Because we are not a communist nation! Neither too right or too left should be popular. Both are wrong and are a national threat.
The constitution gave us our freedoms and include the only freedoms we have remaining!

Do you approve of child murder? Weakening our countries morals? Letting foreigners run amok in our country? Lying about every decision and word you say or make? Disarming the american populace? it's really because the U.S. as a whole is a predominantly conservative society (the politics of fear) and the word liberal has increasingly become a pejorative term. they actually have more in common with islamic societies.

Look at their platforms; abortion of all types on demand, gay marriage, no school accountability, and welfare out the wazoo.
Any poll will find that those are, by and large, unpopular.
