I want to hear from both sides, and why. How do you feel about the Catholic church telling its followers what type of presidential candidate to vote for? Or in some cases, which one candidate to vote for? Isn't that a violation of mixing church and state affairs? Wouldn't then (theoretically) the Catholic church be able to "sponsor" a strongly Catholic candidate, and tell its followers to vote for him? I want to make something clear, I am a Protestant, or at least that's what I have been labeled by the Catholic church, and I have no hate against Catholics, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. My "religion" isn't perfect, but we cannot judge a religion by its members, we judge it by its beliefs. If we didn't, Catholicism would be just as taboo as Nazism. Hitler professed to be Catholic, remember? But all in all, do you think it's right for the church to do so or not?

During the 60's 70's and 80's, MADD likely prevented nuclear or large scale conventional war. While the risk of such a war with russia is now low, there have been many changes since then that could possibly allow a first strike scenario by the US a hypothetical victory. Such as: reduced capability and readiness in russian early warning systems, large US advantage in Submarine capabiliy possibly allow the US to lauch a fairly large first strike on nuke targets from short range/low altitude, stealth technology capable of launching airborne nuclear weapons. Therotically, combining intel suberfutge, special forces ops at russian installations, subs, stealth, superior sat capability, and perfect timing, would it not be possible to take out a vast majority of russian nuclear retaliatory capability with a first strike? What would the odds be? Also, if not russia, surely we would be capable of taking out most of china's nuke capabilty with such a strike?

but to further their political agendas?
They constantly pit the wealthy against the not-so-wealthy and poor, men against women, black against whites. They badmouth the formers while pandering to the latters.
Why is this? Why do they feel the need to pit Americans against Americans?

Gordon Brown will look "weird" and out of touch if he presses on with ID card plans despite the loss of child benefit records, David Cameron has said.
At prime minister's questions, the Tory leader said the data problems should cause Mr Brown to "stop and think".

But the prime minister told MPs that using biometric profiles would ensure "people can feel confident that their identity is protected".

I dont think so! I will never feel safe until this government is out of office. Somewhere they cant get their hands on my personal data!

So I just saw the movie Sicko and don't quite understand the uproar. Moore is simply making an ethical claim that we should have a system established that adequately takes care of all the people. Anyone disagree with the moral claim of the movie? And if the moral claim is true, what type of medical system should we have? I don't think it is HMO medical care, do you?

in politics class my bff's and i are trying to figure this out. Did he lead me on??? this guy i work with and i have been flirting for 3 months. he started flirting with me first and all i did was respond to it. he would always give me hugs all the time, and one time after work he asked me if i had a boyfriend and what do i look for in a guy. he also told me that he has been single for a year because in his past relationship his girl cheated on him. and i remember one time when he hugged me he slightly touched my *ss. but anyways i know for a fact that he was interested in me and i fell for him hard. so one day we were talking on msn and i asked him when he wants to chill cuz he would always say i should come over and visit him sometime and he said "i have to see when im available" i was like okay. also before i asked him if he was talking to anyone meaning if he is dating anyone and he said no. then 2 weeks later we have this conversation on msn:

I think Blackwater and the Jackbooted Republicans should close that place down before it spreads to other parts of America.

What if everyone thought like that? Helping those who are ill and can not self medicate like Rush told us to do.

I don't mean those genuinely on benefits due to disability or illness, but the long-term unemployed who simply do not want to work. Should they be denied the vote? If they are not contributing to society, then why should they be given a say in how society is run?
