In three separate ceremonies in the three capitals on Dec. 17, 1992, President Bush, Mexican President Salinas, and Canadian Prime Minister Mulroney signed the historic North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The framework agreement proposed to eliminate restrictions on the flow of goods, services, and investment in North America. The House of Representatives approved NAFTA, by a vote of 234 to 200 on November 17, 1993, and the Senate voted 60 to 38 for approval on November 20. It was signed into law by President Clinton on December 8, 1993, and took effect on January 1, 1994.

Unemployment is showing up as low because those who lost their jobs have fallen off the charts completely since their unemployment benefits ran out.

Remarkably, the contract's supporters incorporated 132 Republicans and 102 Democrats. NAFTA didn't get the votes had to move as a Treaty within the U.S. Senate. That exceptional blend mirrored the demanding situations President Clinton confronted in convincing Congress that the arguable piece of laws could real improvement all Americans. The contract used to be signed into regulation within the U.S. on December eight, 1993, by means of President Bill Clinton and went into end result on January

Europe went through this when the Soviet Union collapsed and they began incorporating former Warsaw Pact states. For awhile it brought their economy down. Now look at them.
We need a hemispheric economic trading bloc or else we will be caught between Europe and China. We need to expand NAFTA to incorporate as much of the western himisphere as possible to counter them. Chin up.

NAFTA was signed in Dec 1992; it was initially pursued by conservative governments in the United States and Canada to support free trade (led by Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari).
Having said that, it's probably been more harmful than beneficial to the US. Why doesn't our current President try to repeal it?

Neither. Canada and Mexican aren't the ones ruining the US economy. The problem is imports from China and outsourcing to India. Canada and Mexican aren't the ones ruining the US economy

NAFTA was a good idea gone bad. It has no controls on quantity and/or quality.

It's helped some people (those who export jobs) and hurt others (those who lost jobs). Like all games, there are winners and losers.

If we have lost jobs, why is unemployment so low?

We should be expanding free trade, but NAFTA didn't really do that.

NAFTA is a joke, but PLEASE do your homework little girl. Reagan started Nafta, and bush the first signed the treaty. Clinton had nothing to do with it.

Here we go again...

REAGAN started NAFTA, Bush Sr. SIGNED the TREATY.

Everyday one you uninformed Americans blame NAFTA on Clinton...it's getting old, go learn something.
