I understand that some people dont believe there is global warming, and I understand that some people believe climate change is happening but man has nothing to do with that. I respect your opinions. So please respect my question. My question is to learn about how your mind thinks in this area. My question is ...(pay attention please)...assuming you were convinced that in fact global warming exists, and is caused by man....(notice I said assuming you were convinced), if you were convinced, then as a responsible earthling, what would you recommend we do as a country if you were in a position of political leadership.

The purpose here is to hopefully stimulate good ideas and good discussion.

Arbusto, an oil exploration company, lost money, but it got considerable investments (nearly $5 million) because even losing oil investments were useful as tax shelters.
Spectrum 7 Energy Corp. bought out Arbusto in 1984 and hired Mr. Bush to run the company's oil interests in Midland, Texas. The oil business collapsed as oil prices plummeted by 1986, and Spectrum 7 Energy was near failure.
Harken Energy acquired Mr. Bush's Spectrum 7 Energy shares, and he got Harken shares, a directorship, and a consulting arrangement in return. Harken, under Bush, brought in Saudi real estate tycoon Sheikh Abdullah Bakhsh as a board member and a major investor. Over the next few years, Harken would turn out to have links to: Saudi money, CIA-connected Filipinos, the Harvard Endowment, the emir of Bahrain, and the shadowy Bank of Credit and Commerce International

There would be so much I would want to change. Some examples are
1. The judical system, there would be no time of for good behaviour, you weren't good to be there in the first place.
Also no lesser sentence for pleading guilty, just cause it saves money.
Life would mean life, even if we had to build more prison. I recently heard an interview on the radio, can't remember by whom said that we can't possiably have prison's full of O.A.P prisoners. Why not ?
2) Raise the age for most thing's like marriage etc to 21years
3) Bring back national service ,if your not in employment, training, or futher education by the time you leave school then you are called up
4) More money ploughed into Hospitals, Schools, Eldery etc
The list would go on and on.
What would you change ?

The old BOQ Builing was our Submarine Squadron 15 Enlisted Barracks. I lived there in 1978. We played that course several times. Also, do you know what it was called?

Which any person is defined as "RICH"??
I keep hearing "Tax the rich". Is the 'rich' level, the point whereby someone / anyone makes above the "poverty line"??
Like $18,000.00 dollars a year ?? Is this amount where the extra taxation starts??
Not one candidate has yet defined "RICH" !!!

We have already spent 1.2 Trillion dollars on a war that requires a political solution to resolve. This war cannot be won by the U.S. Military. If the Iraqis are not going to resolve this thing politically, then there is no reason keeping a large military force there. The Iraqi reconciliation seems further apart now than they were before the surge.

We are approaching a $1 trillion annual trade deficit, most of it with Asia, $220 billion with just China -- just last year.

the shrinkage of the dollar does matter to a country that perchases most of their commodities overseas...

I know in Indianapolis, we had a very poor showing as far as people voting in the mayoral elections and I know a lot of people don't vote in the Presidential elections throughout the country. What if there was a rule that if you don't vote, you'll be asked to do jury duty. In other words, fulfill your civic responsibility one way or the other. Of course, if a person is old, decrepit or physically or mentally unable to do it, they'd be excempt.

My son was arrested and now has a felony assault charge over a simple stupid arguement between he and the mother of his child.

When they were still living together (Keep in mind they were teenagers- she 17 he 19) they got into an arguement because he stayed out and she thought he was cheating on her.

She started slapping at him and he shoved her backwards to get her to leave him alone and she fell onto the coffee table, but bit her own lip on the way down. When the cops came (neighbors called because they heard her crying and thought he was beating her) they saw her lip bleeding and just assumed he punched her in the mouth and wouldn't believe her when she said he just shoved her. Then they called in counselors that brainwashed her into believeing he was abusing her and got her to testify against him in court.

So now his life is ruined because some cop didn't listen to the full story and her brain is warped because counselors jumped in where they needed not to be.

I was given a ticket for driving to endanger for passing two cars at once. It was in a passing zone with plenty of clear road ahead. I've looked up the Mass. law about passing. It doesn't specificly allow or outlaw it. Here is a link to the law-
