NO file-sharing service is illegal in and of itself. The USE of the service to share COPYRIGHTED files without consent of the copyright holder is ALWAYS illegal. I can share an files I own in any way I wish, including limewire. I CAN'T legally share copyrighted music or video using the software.

As the others have stated before me, Limewire in itself is perfectly legal, but if you download copyrighted material, which is in violation of the user agreement, then you are doing something illegal.

I believe this makes it all too easy to break the law, but who will listen to me?

The limewire program itself isnt illegal but downloading music off of it is. If you are downloading music off of limewire IT IS ILLEGAL due to copyright infringement. Hope this helped! :P

The program is no illegal, but downloading copyrighted material (songs, movies), is.

That's why you must agree not to do anything illegal before they let you use the program.

Not the service itself, but sharing certain files as if you own them is.
