This is a long story, but I will try to give you the short version.
I needed a death certificate for my mom,who died in 2004, and called the funeral home to get one.The owner of the home told me he would be happy to send me one.Which he did. When I got it there was a request for a $10.00 fee.I paid the $10.00 and sent it with a note telliing him, that it would be in his best interest to let the customer know of any fees.He sent me my check back with a nasty note to me.I sent the check back to him with a letter of apology.I thought that would be that, but I just got my check back again with another nasty note.He wrote a big VOID across the check and told me he didn't want it.WHO'S RIGHT??Should he have kept the check??

Do you think our founding fathers invisioned an America where 40% of our income is taken away by the government before we even spend anything. And probably closer to 50% is taken out before it's all said and done.

Wasn't the revolution over stuff like this? How much did those people pay in taxes compared with modern day?

i was arrested and posted bond in the same county that i supposedly had a past bond from 1998 for 1000$. It was from 1998 and it was for traffic tickets. i went to court and was told to do community service. my recruiter then sent me into the air force and told me that it was taken care of because i enlisted. so i was wondering why didnt they send me like 30 minutes away to take care of that past bond. i was in the jail and everything in the same county and they didnt send me to the other town to jail? whats some possible reasons why that happened? i have court and i want to know if theyll find out about it then too.

I was curious, if I am currently living in Australia, I was born in Australia, and all of my relatives are from Europe, how is it possible for me to permanently move to the US and become a US citizen?

Oh, and try to keep your answers reasonably simple, without complicated talk.

Is it just me?
so this is how our tax money is being spent!

WE PAID $1,700,000,000,000 IN FEDERAL TAXES IN 2004

42% of our 2004 taxes were spent on WAR
while only
9% was spent on education
8% was spent on housing the poor
1% was spent on diplomacy

I think Bush has done well spending our money on a senseless war while Americans are still poor, with little education, and kids can't get proper healthcare, because of spending on a lie(war)

According to Karl Marx, Communism is an economic system in which everyone works and money is distributed equally to everyone--no one is richer than anyone else. This prevents the lower classes from being exploited, since there are no lower classes.
I know in the past Communist nations have ended up with a totalitarian government, but in 'Communist Manifesto' Marx says nothing about the type of government that should run a Communist country.
So when people are looking for a negative political term to call someone, shouldn't they call them totalitarian or fascist rather than Communist?
I was just wondering, since I see the term thrown around a lot.

"an unjust law is no law at all"...this is an old saying....if this is true i think we have the discretion to disobey unjust laws.it is the duty of every citizen to follow laws... as unjust laws are not laws we have the right to disobey such laws. Is this correct?

please try to explain your answer

Hillary is still trying to get a national medical plan passed. She worked on this for eight years while Bill was president and now 7 years with Bush as president and she still can not get anyone to vote with her. She supported the recent effort to get medical care for kids expanded - DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT INCLUDED? It would have made tax payers supported medical care available to illegal aliens! Don't you think if Clinton wants to help the American tax payer she would avoid channeling our tax money into programs supporting illegal aliens? Maybe this is another program she voted YES on without reading it; as she did in voting us into Iraq. Shouldn’t we be telling Clinton, Obama, Edwards and those republican candidates opposing these three that anything they do that supports illegal immigration or immigrants will result in lost votes? It appears the lead Democratic and the lead Republican candidates both support illegal immigration – look at their records; they are not for the common working person!

My ex partner and I went through a lot of crap a while ago and so we took our case to court over our young son when we split up. The court put visitation/joint custody orders in and so I see him once a week for 8 hours on a Saturday.

For the past few months though we've been getting along fine, and now we're wondering if we HAVE to follow the orders as were set out by the court, or can we just do as we please? It seems a bit silly that we now stay at each others houses at random days of the week and see our son all the time together, yet on a weekend we have to muck about going to a contact centre to drop him off, then I pick him up, and we go home again together anyway, then do it in reverse 8 hours later!

I do wanna keep the orders there just in case something goes wrong again and then my rights to see my son once a week are protected, but are we required by law to follow those orders or can we just put them away indefinitely?
