Most Democratic politicians tend to follow a socialist model -- where the govt is allowed to take money (taxes) to a large degree -- and where the govt is allowed to regulate commercial activity to an almost unlimited degree
Both of those are against the basic tenets of the laissez faire (free market) economy -- which is another reason why the Democratic party abandoned the liberal philosophical movement many years ago -- because the liberal movement still support laissez faire and a free market economy.
Which put liberals at odds with the Democratic party in much the same way that fiscal conservatives are at odds with the Republican party of recent years (and record deficit spending).

Because it's not necessarily a "fair" system. Wikipedia defines it as: "A free market is a market where prices of goods and services are arranged completely by the mutual non-coerced consent of sellers and buyers, determined generally by the supply and demand law with no government interference in the regulation of costs, supply and demand. The opposite of a free market is a controlled market, where government sets or regulates prices directly or through regulating supply and/or demand."
We have all kinds of regulations, price caps, and laws against "gouging" to make the free market system "fair".

Because Democrats are control freaks!!! They don't trust a free market, or those who operate within a free market! They believe everything and everybody needs to be scrutinized by a government bureau, or agency! That's why government is constantly getting bigger no matter what the economy is doing!

Free market economy meaning that rich can do whatever they want and working class has no say over it.

Simple. They want the government to control every aspect of what goes on in this country. They want a nanny state and obviously the people who vote for them are to stupid to see it...
