It is one of the greatest "what ifs" in history. Many historians have asked that question, along with novelist Len Deighton in his book "SS-GB".

In the Spring 1998 issue of "Military History Quarterly" several military historians pondered similiar questions. Such eminent historians as John Keegan, UNC's Gerhard L. Weinberg, Boston U.'s David Fromkin.

The most likely outcome would be a world divided into three or four spheres: Nazi Germany, the United States, the Soviet Union, and/or Japan. There would be eventual conflicts between: USSR/Germany, USSR/Japan and/or USA/Japan.

Hitler would not have been able to stop himself from invading Russia, it was his raison d'etre, so all else is not worth contemplating. However, Yes Hitler could have finished off Britain militarily, if only he'd left soldiering to the experts. Hitlers ridiculous stop orders off Dunkirk were at odds with the magnificent achievements by the Wehrmacht up until then. If he had over 500,000 British and Frenchmen, he could have persuaded for peace.

The reason Russia was able to defeat Germany was they traded land for time and Germany started later in 1941 than they wanted to and the winter set in and stopped them giving the Russians time to regroup. the delay was because il Duce was also a wannabe soldier and got the Italian (disgraceful to be called an) army to attack poor Greece and couldn't even handle that without German intervention.

The US was such an isolationist society that they would not have been able to invade Europe or even the Pacific unless their interests weredeemed to be under massive threat. The US was not after territorial control, but is after free trade. They can trade with the victors in Europe, Asia and Russia, so there will be no need for the US to attack.

Well, there's been ton of research done on alternate history theories of World War II.

I think that in general, most military historians would agree that invading the USSR was a fatal mistake for Germany. Had they not, and simply focused on wearing Britain down until they were willing to accept a peace proposal, little could have been done to stop them.

The Japanese moving across the Pacific was a different story and it seems almost inevtiable that America would have gone to war with them, Pearl Harbour was pre-emptive on their part.

But if Germany forced Britain to accept terms of peace or even was successful in invading and occupying them, America wouldn't have been able to have any effect on Europe. They would have no bases from which to launch air attacks upon German occupied territory, let alone launch any kind of ground invasion.

Hitler's overruling of his generals at every turn was his fatal mistake. He was successful in politics but horrible as a military leader.

Germany actually would've won,if the English Army hadn't escaped at Dunkirk ,if Hitler had not turned his back on Britain to fight Russia and if the Japanese had attacked Russia instead of Hawaii, there's a lot more mistakes the main one being Hitler should've relegated himself to minister of propaganda and let the Generals do the planning

I don't know if this is the point you're trying to make but, it shows that if the U.S Had not gotten involved, even though the war wasn't on U.S. soil, the whole of history would have changed.
