What are two main reasons America invaded Iraq? I am writing a paper for Englishand we need to provide to reasons America invaded Iraq. We then have to decide if Merlin, the characer from Once and Future King, would agree with the war or not. Any helpful simple websites would be appreciated.

The primary public reason was that Saddam was bad, and it was up to us (US) to stop him. Why he was bad changed with the season -- he was hurting his own people, he was going to hurt us, he did bad things in the past -- but whatever the excuse, the US invaded Iraq to punish Saddam because we didn't like him.
There are private speculations about the real motivation -- Bush family agenda, war for oil, needing a distraction because were weren't finding OBL fast enough -- but none of those have been proven.
Start with the public reason -- and ask why the US felt it had the authority to take down a govt and depose its leader just because we didn't like what he was doing in his own country.

Our reasons for invading Iraq are simple.....they were part of the borderless terrorist state and a threat to the security of America....
The reasons we invaded:
Saddam declared war on America
Saddam attempted to assassinate a sitting American President
Saddam paid terrorists to attack and kill Americans and our allies
Saddam was training and harboring terrorists including Al Quida
Saddam tried several times to kill American troops/pilots
Saddam had access to nuclear devices that could be walked across our borders
FINALLY.....Saddam DID have WMDs (contact me I can prove all of this)
This war has been building since Carter fail in protecting American lives and property.....it has been escalating every year....we got the reputation of being a toothless tiger.....a whipping boy for any terrorist with an excuse....we may have waited too long before standing up and saying enough is enough

1)George Bush Jr wanted revenge since his Dad wasn't allowed to win in Gulf 1
2)The war is about the bribes in the form of stock options and kick backs that George Bush has got- quasi-legally, not necessairly ethically- by his friend Dick Cheney.
3)The idea was to provide economic stability here in the United States- Wars normally do that. HOWEVER- in this case its turned into another Viet Nam politically, and the price is way too high.
4)Because there was NOT just cause for this war- President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and other key figures should be brought up on charges of Treason agains the United States, of War Crimes against Humanity.

The UN sanctioned all the action in the middle east and our congress approved.
get your facts right
muslims are killing muslims,,, 135 innocent civilians just this last week (Plus)
