To vote for economic sanctions against a country, as the UN did today is an act of war... Is this what the US and the world wants and are you ready to pay $160 for a barrel of oil and the resulting increase prices at the pumps?

yesterday after noon, my friend was pulling out of our drive way and ran over our 5month old bengal cat who was playing in the bush next to our drive way.
Our cat and her car were both on our property when it happened and the cat was rushed to the animal hospital and is doing ok. She has several facial problems and is losing alot of blood but therwise is doing well. there is a slight chance she may need an operation and/or suffer mental deformaties. I love this cat as if she is my baby and cannot part with her. The vet bill was already reached beyond what we can afford (what will a new house morgage and 2 kids- on benefits).

Anyway so back to the queastion...my friend wont pay for it even though she ran her over...what is the law here? Is she legally obliged to pay for medical expenses? Does it make a difference as to whether it happened on our property or council property? Should she at least have to pay half the expenses?
any answers are very appreciated - thanks

We are social beings who live in communities. Does that make us Socialists and Communists? Regardless of your ideological preferences, "No person is an Island unto themselves"*(John Donne)--although some obviously wish it were so.

Don't they realize they are contradicting themselves? Hitler was the opposite of a socialist. He was far right, not left. Bush & the GOP are actually more like Hitler & his regime.
"The Nazis gained power during Germany's period of crisis after World War I. They used propaganda and charismatic oratory, emphasizing nationalism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Communism. After restructuring the economy and rearming the military, a totalitarian dictatorship based around the Führer was established. Hitler pursued an aggressive foreign policy, with an ideological goal of Lebensraum (expanding living space for Germans). The German Invasion of Poland in 1939 triggered armed conflict between the British and French Empires (the Allies) and Germany."

What do you guys think is the dumbest political talking point?

I think it is "George Bush wanted to go to war."

Of course he wanted to go to war, if he didn't we wouldn't be there.

Any ideas?

i know that many of u are complaining that illegal immigrants are not paying 4 taxes.but maybe ur not looking at the other side. everytime u pay ur taxes the goverment has to give u money back.according to how the statistics are turning out the goverment would be giving back millions and millions back to people (immigrants) who pay there taxes every year. 4 u people who say that immigrants are not willing to file the papers to do taxes, u got it all wrong. my father has been filing tax papers to pay taxes 4 the past 12 years .luckly me and my 2 brothers are citizens,so the goverment would owes us back thousands of $. if u say we filled the form wrong. then again u got it all wrong .every time that we go fll out the form we go with a certified notary.and every time the goverment makes up a crappy excuse 4 denying us the #. every time they tell us that the birth place is wrong. blah blah blah. the reason y i posted this is because i wanted an opinion.so the lines r now open.u have 3 days

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Nelson Mandela is still very much alive despite an embarrassing gaffe by U.S. President George W. Bush, who alluded to the former South African leader's death in an attempt to explain sectarian violence in Iraq.

Notice how the media declares this an "embarrassing gaffe" as if no other possibility could account for this mistake? Couldn't it also be a Freudian slip or wishful thinking upon the President's part? After all, Nelson Mandela was a dirty lousy communist:

I don't get this. How can so many people out there be so against the SCHIP bill? That bill that you want gone provides health care for my family. No I'm not on Medicare, I am paying lower premiums through the SCHIP system to ensure my children are taken care of.
Am I a lazy citizen, or an illegal? No! I am a VETERAN of the US ARMY!!!!! My husband and I both served our country, to include a tour in Iraq with the 4ID. We made the choice to ETS after serving to provide more for our 2 children. We then struggled to get through college taking out all loans possible in order to ensure a better life. Now, being a college graduate, my husband is starting associate at an Accounting firm. Yes, in a few years we can afford our own health care, but at $500 a month for premiums not including the 4K deductable and services not paid for, we can't afford health care through his company, and rely on this bill to help us. Maybe you are able to pay for yours, but did you serve you country before kids?

What did JFK accomplish as senator and president? He rescinded the poll tax, started NASA and - what else? He lost the Bay of Pigs, gave up our Patriot missiles in Turkey and promised to not invade Cuba to settle the "Cuban Missile Crisis", started the Viet Nam War, and was assasinated - probably by the Mafia. He was elected President when the Democratic Machine in Illinois resurrected the dead and added them to the voter rolls. He was a player - screwing Judith Exner and Marilyn Monroe in the White House - but gave good speeches. So, what's the big deal? Is that it? Please someone, let me know why he is the epitomy of the Democratic ideal. Leave off the hero stuff and PT109. His own men dispute that story. I'd appreciate facts.

you keep saying we need to attack iran, because iran doesn't like the u.s.

there are many countries that don't like the u.s.; and in fact, many of them are much more capable that iran, as far militarily, to do something to us.

do you think we should bomb any country in the world that dislikes us in any way? that'd be about at least half the world.

["Mr Singer said: "This can all be explained by the Sun's activity."

He added: "The number of the Sun's cosmic rays hitting the Earth affect the number of low, cooling clouds that reflect solar heat back into space, amplifying small variations in the intensity of the Sun."]

That's NOT how it works!

[Mr Svensmark's results show that the {cosmic} rays produce electrically charged particles when they hit the atmosphere. ..Mr Svensmark claims that the number of cosmic rays hitting the Earth changes with the magnetic activity around the Sun. During high periods of activity, fewer cosmic rays hit the Earth and so there are less clouds formed, resulting in warming.]2

Singer got the science wrong! We recently had a solar minimum- which should've led to more clouds and global cooling. But we've instead had the warmest years on record.

I am the son, grandson, and greatgrandson of democrats. I switched to Independent in college when I realized that liberals would not allow any speaker or publication contrary to their opinions to be allowed on campus. The violence against opposing opinions is similar to Nazi Germany. It seemed to me, as it does now, that there is a very strong fear that listening to contrary opinions would weaken liberal beliefs. Democrats would rather listen to Ahmadinejad at Columbia than Rumsfeld at Stanford. Why? What is there to fear from an opposing opinion? How do liberals expect to evolve if they only listen to themselves?

To refresh your memory ladies and gentlement, boys and girls.

The president of Iran has called for the destruction of Israel.

The president of Iran has denied the Holcaust.

The president of Iran has said death to America and Israel.

The president of Iran has denied nuclear inspectors.

Iran is undeniably a strategic ally of al-Qaida. Even if it weren't, it shares Osama bin Laden's objectives of destroying both Israel and the United States by any means necessary.

Iran commands a terrorist organization bigger in manpower and resources than al-Qaida. It is called Hezbollah. It has attacked targets all over the world.

His country is currently killing U.S. troops in Iraq with proxy terrorists, bombs and weaponry.

There's more though.
