What did JFK accomplish as senator and president? He rescinded the poll tax, started NASA and - what else? He lost the Bay of Pigs, gave up our Patriot missiles in Turkey and promised to not invade Cuba to settle the "Cuban Missile Crisis", started the Viet Nam War, and was assasinated - probably by the Mafia. He was elected President when the Democratic Machine in Illinois resurrected the dead and added them to the voter rolls. He was a player - screwing Judith Exner and Marilyn Monroe in the White House - but gave good speeches. So, what's the big deal? Is that it? Please someone, let me know why he is the epitomy of the Democratic ideal. Leave off the hero stuff and PT109. His own men dispute that story. I'd appreciate facts.

Wow, you're really interested in facts, I like how you say that while repeating unproven rumors. First, it's called math, learn it. Look at the electoral votes in the 1960 election. Now, deduct Illinois from Kennedy and add it to Nixon. Who wins the election? Kennedy still does. Just because you overlooked that simple fact leaves you with zero credibility. Don't believe that? Go here to do the math yourself:

Provide any hard evidence that Kennedy had sex with Exner and Monroe.

The Bay of Pigs was planned during the Eisenhower administration, not by the Kennedy administration, and it was doomed to failure to begin with, it's hardly Kennedy's fault.

Kennedy's handling of the Cuban Missle Crisis averted a nuclear war with the USSR, which is a good thing, unless you really don't value the fact that you're living today.

Provide any hard evidence that the Mafia killed Kennedy. I bet you can't. Again, like the stories of his famous affairs, nothing but speculation and none of it can be proven.

There you go, some actual facts. I hope you appreciate them.

Kennedy was lowering the highest tax rates in history, up to 90% during the booming 50s. Are you justifying the $40 billion plus per year corporate tax breaks for oil companies?

The only reason anyone votes for Ted kennedy is because JFK happens to be his brother. JFK was nothing like the Democrats of today.

One fact for you - Eisenhower, a republican, sent the first troops to VN.

Why is a b-film actor the patron saint of the republicants? That is even harder to fathom. That and the fact that the US elected dip-sh* twice! No excuses on that.

I personally always thought that the fact that he was going to work towards repealing the 16th Amendment and closing the Federal Reserve and ending the IRS and the fraudulent collection of income taxes was one of the things that made him great...

it also is what got him killed!

Personally I believe that FDR is the patron saint of the Democratic party. He was the greatest president we had since Abe Lincoln.

Like the Kennedys before and after him he was a drug addicted womanizer of little accomplishment if it were not for his pappy Joe's millions that bought him an election.

You'd have to read about him to understand his ideals and exactly what he stood for in our nation, and why what he stood for in our nation was so important at the time he was president.

He succesffully avoided war with Russia by tactfully negotiating and ending the Cuban Missle Crisis. (Invading Cuba would have brought us to war with Russia, so I don't understand why you see Kennedy avoiding a war with Russia through negotiation, as a bad thing???)

He established the Peace Corp.

He enacted the Nuclear test ban treaty with the Uk and Russia, preventing atomic testing above ground, in the air and in the water.

He supported a coup in Iraq in 1963 to overthrow communists in their government.

Arguing that "those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable", Kennedy sought to contain communism in Latin America by establishing the Alliance for Progress, which sent foreign aid to troubled countries in the region and sought greater human rights standards in the region. He worked closely with Puerto Rican Governor Luis Muñoz Marín for the development of the Alliance of Progress, as well as developments in the autonomy of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

He heavily supported federal funding for education, medical care for the elderly, and government intervention to halt the recession. Kennedy also fought to end racial discrimination.

In 1962, James Meredith tried to enroll at the University of Mississippi, but he was prevented from doing so by white students. Kennedy responded by sending some 400 federal marshals and 3,000 troops to ensure that Meredith could enroll in his first class. Kennedy also assigned federal marshals to protect Freedom Riders. (A MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH IN THE POLITICS OF CIVIL RIGHTS!)

On June 11, 1963, President Kennedy intervened when Alabama Governor George Wallace blocked the doorway to the University of Alabama to stop two African American students, Vivian Malone and James Hood, from enrolling. George Wallace moved aside after being confronted by federal marshals, Deputy Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach and the Alabama National Guard. That evening Kennedy gave his famous civil rights address on national television and radio.[29] Kennedy proposed what would become the Civil Rights Act of 1964

John F. Kennedy initially proposed an overhaul of American immigration policy that later was to become the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, sponsored by Kennedy's brother Senator Edward Kennedy. It dramatically shifted the source of immigration from Northern and Western European countries towards immigration from Latin America and Asia and shifted the emphasis of selection of immigrants towards facilitating family reunification.

Also he never screwed anyone in the whitehouse, nor did he mess with Marylin Monroe (that's a Republican rumor). It seems more like you just want to trash a famous Democrat, than to know what JFK was about. He was a man who beleived rightfully in peace and equality, much unlike the war monger monster we have in office now, Kennedy had a brain and used it!
