Notice how the media declares this an "embarrassing gaffe" as if no other possibility could account for this mistake? Couldn't it also be a Freudian slip or wishful thinking upon the President's part? After all, Nelson Mandela was a dirty lousy communist:

"I heard somebody say, Where's Mandela?' Well, Mandela's dead because Saddam Hussein killed all the Mandelas," Bush, who has a reputation for verbal faux pas, said in a press conference in Washington on Thursday.

These are the words President Bush said. It was no gaff. It was a statement that Hussein had killed anyone who opposed him politically. The gaff is on the part of the media.

Do people seriously not understand what Bush was saying? And people call him simple. He never said that Nelson Mandela was actually dead. He said any potential Mandela like person would have been killed by Saddam. Not complicated........

This was just a verbal mistake

Nelson and Winnie are freedom fighters, who helped free their country. Even if he was a communist how does that compare to the idea that the government of South Africa treated Blacks like dirt. Better a communist who wants equality then people from Free Countries like ours who wish to support institutional racism, you should be ashamed of yourself
