Why didn't they vote yes for condemning all attacks on those who served?

"Obama, Clinton and Dodd voted for an alternative resolution offered minutes earlier by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. That resolution condemned political attack ads, including those that questioned the patriotism of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and former Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga., both Vietnam veterans. It failed 50-47."

I'm not phrasing this toward liberals or conservatives. Obviously each group tends to think the other is responsible for this nation and the world becoming a more politically, economically and socially dangerous place.

Personally, I feel that we are racing toward many types of widespread catastrophe. It's as much fueled by a gut feeling as it is evidence and troublesome current events.

Please indicate whether you share this sentiment, and to what degree. You may also include your political persuasions (i.e. liberal, conservative, moderate), but please leave out any politically motivated accusation for WHY the world seems to be heading in the direction that it is.

Thanks!

Hillary has voted against a senate measure condemning a MoveOn.org ad that refers to Gen. Patreus as Gen. Betray Us. Later in the news article, (link posted below,) She is quoted:

In an interview with The Associated Press Tuesday, Clinton declined to address the ad, saying instead: "I have been an admirer of General Petraeus for a number of years. I have said that on numerous occasions. I reiterated it, and I think my words speak for themselves."

So how it is not a flip-flop for her to have voted against defending the man against MoveOn.org's smear campaign?

The officer was had a report the landscapers had fly tipped . After explaining to the landscapers , and being told we wasnt in, he walked into my backgarden and went to my conservatory door.
The landscapers , he knew were the people he wanted to speak to because the van had their name on it.
When i was told about it i rang them.I asked why did he enter my garden he said he wanted to be sure we knew the gardeners.
They had been doing the garden for 2 weeks so we obviously knew them, and so did he after he had spoken to them.
I have a parrott worth £1500 in the conservatory and the back is kept secure.
Did he trespass on my land without reasonable cause,And is his excuse he wanted to speak to us rubbish , as he should have come to the front door like any normal person wanting to speak to the house owner should?

I don’t think so!
That is giving them WAY too much credit.
They may take lives, they may take property and create economic havoc, but they can’t take my freedom.
So, is the war in Iraq about my freedom or the Iraqis freedom or both?
I just don’t get how people can buy into these stupid slogans.
Please someone explain.
Thanks for reading!

I have heard several liberals/dems here say that Bush has repeatedly violated the Constitution, and that they will restore it when they are elected in '08 . . . I'm just curious, what sort of violations have been committed?

This happened to my place of business a while ago. Someone broke the window to my office with a rock and i was worried they would come back and try to get through the broken window to cause further damage or steal something so i waited there late into the night. They never came back, but my question is what are my rights as a citizen if someone is vandalizing my personal property? Can physically restrain them while i call the police?

I had started working for a hotel in 6/07. I was hired to work front desk/night audit. I had started training for night audit when I found out that the person I was training with was the bosses stepdaughter and to make matters worse she was making $9.00 an hour while the boss left me at $8.00. Once I found this out I decided to no longer work as an auditor. I contined to work at the desk and all the front desk staff have to work in housekeeping for a day. Once my day came I worked and was done with my training. On 9/19/07 I went to work as usual and my day was normal. Unitl the 2nd person came on and I was called into the office. The boss was upset that I didn't work housekeeping the Sunday that just passed. I had told her that I had already worked housekeeping and that I wasn't hired for this position in the first place. She had fired me! I understand the employee at will law in Louisiana but I felt discriminatied against. Should I fight this?

In the last few weeks a woman and a college student were tasered by police officers. There were more than one police officer there and they should have been able to contain these people without the use of tasers. The police are getting too carried away with this method. Police officers, if you are seen tasering people without warrent, prepare yourself for the unexpected!
