#4 Radical Islam
I am reading "AtlasShrugged" for the very first time, and it's like a FREAKING crystal ball!
I keep expecting every little stupid "You greedy businesssmen need to share your wealth" to be followed with 'said Hillary' instead of 'said Jim's mother.'

What concerns me the most is how blind we,the people seem to be about the nature of today's politics and those participating in it.
It has become obvious to me that no politician will be able to accomplish any of what is so freely promised during campaigns.
Politics has become a game of power.
It's like that old running gag in the 'Charlie Brown' comic strip.
Lucy convinces Charlie that she's going to hold the football while Charlie kicks it.
Charlie recalls how ,just as he was about to kick the ball Lucy moves it and he falls. But Lucy seems so sincere this time.
Charlie is convinced she's a changed girl and gets a running start on the ball, only to have it removed yet again.
And so it goes.
We watch the horror. We believe the lie.The children suffer.
And so it goes.

The threat not of a foreign power, but of the hate that has been developing through the years between liberals and conservatives,to the point of a civil war, this hate is further fueled by politicians seeking to get elected, the enemies of this country must be grinning from ear to ear, when they see american fighting against american
My point is best verified by the answers given here, the liberals blame the conservatives and the conservatives blame the liberals, each one thinks that by screaming louder than the other they will win their argument

People confusing being a celebrity with being informed on all subjects.
Teachers not allowed to teach because it may hurt the child's feelings to find out they are an idiot.
Nascar being confused with a sport. (Bet I lost a lot of you on that one. But the only way I would consider it a sport is if the track was a little harder than an oval. It might take a bit of skill at that point.)
Political figures given a free pass in debates by being able to veto any question they think may show them in a negative light.

Can I add a number 5?
5. The stranglehold the liberals have on our education system. Our kids get dumber and dumber, and what do teachers worry about? What color ink to use when grading papers! Give me a break.
Schools need to quit hand-holding and boosting self-esteem for no reason at all - you don't get rewarded at work just for filling space, so why should you get participation ribbons for doing nothing more than that at school events? Some schools are even talking about doing away with the valedictorian position. Why? Because it's "unfair" to the little shits who didn't bother to attend class or put forth any effort. What about being fair to the kids who busted their butts to be on top?
Sorry to rant - major sore spot for me, and I don't even have kids!

Uh, the War Mongering Neocons ARE the brutal dictators.
What concerns me?
One of the many things that concerns me is that, since many people (wrongly) feel patriotism requires them to support anything their country does, that Bush's use of torture is making more Americans support and defend torture.
Thus, we're becoming less civilized, less human.
But I guess the biggest thing is the attempt to repurpose our educational system away from educating students. Making it a system for teaching only one thing (the ability to pass machine-gradable tests) has the effect of No Child Getting Any Real Education EVER.
Big mistake.
Radical Islam? Those folks can't destroy us. But WE can.

5. The cost of prescription pharmaceuticals; especially for seniors on limited incomes.
6. Health care for the nation. No one wants HMOs. Not the patients, not the doctors.

Our kids to be honest. Half of them can't speak English properly and the other half have no respect for any authority, not even their parents. American children (Not all, but many) have become self absorbed and lazy and even pretty stupid. (When I asked my 12 year old niece who George Clooney was, she said "Wasn't he a US President?") I wanted to strangle her. Between outside influences and parents who are either too busy trying to scrape a living or just simply don't care, I believe your 4 problems are moot because our children will not be prepared to handle any adversity.

the failure of politicians in Washington to make sure that the government works at a operational level.Examples: a FDA that works,FCC that works,IRS that works and more agency's that are right now failing miserably FEMA etc.
at least when the politicians are fooling around playing their game the government should work.properly.
