Thats a lie.

Because every divorce inviolves 2 people the pure population numbers do not represent the truth.

Of about 3 million marriages in effect at any one time nearly 1 million of those will end in divorce, which is roughly 33%. The real number in 05 (which is the last time a census on this topic was taken) was 43%.

Let me ask you a question. Why do 40% of all pedophilia cases involve men with boys when only 12% of the population are gay?

As a christian i laugh a little whenever other christians suggest that we must "defend the sanctity of marriage" by preventing homosexual unions. The divorce rate within the christian church is higher than the general divorce rate (which, unless my facts are wrong, is closer to 50%, not 70%, but either way it's much too high) What does that say about the "sanctity of marriage"?

I think that before heterosexuals or christians start demoralizing homosexuals for wanting to marry, we must first take our own marriages seriously before we can claim that there is some "sanctity" worth upholding.

Your point is a good one. People need to remove the log from their own eye before they begin picking the sliver from anothers'.

Current divorce rate for North America is 41% as per Angus Reid.

In either case, I don't see how heterosexual divorce rates would affect homosexual divorce rates.

Currently, same-sex couples who wish to marry must jump through a series of bureaucratic hoops in order to do so...

It makes it more difficult and may or may not help keep the couple together (they fought that hard to get married, fight hard to stay married).

Marriage, hetero or homo, should be about the couple getting married... what other people are doing with their marriage shouldn't come into play.

I believe you are incorrect, sir. The divorce rate is not over 70%. Please provide a reference link for that claim.

As far as I am aware, the hetero divorce rate hovers around 50%.

As regards gay marriages, homosexuals have been denied the equal right to marry for so long that many have grown to aspire to marriage as a triumph over being regarded as fourth class citizens their entire lives. Heterosexuals have had the luxury of taking marriage for granted.

Any couple of any gender that can keep a relationship together for 8 years is "beating the odds" for divorce.

1. Taxpayers, consumers, and businesses would have to subsidize homosexual relationships. 2. Public schools would start teaching homosexual relationships are identical to heterosexual ones. 3. Freedom of conscience and religious liberty would be threatened. 4. Fewer people will marry. (therefore eliminating marriage altogether) 5. Fewer people will be monogamous and sexually faithful (raising rates of STDs) 6. Fewer people will be married for a lifetime. 7. Fewer children will be raised by a mother and father. ( a right of the child that everyone conveniently ignores) 8. More children would grow up fatherless (raising rates of crime) 9. Birth rates would fall 10. Demands for polygamous relationships and other types of relationships (minors, animals, etc) would increase.

Nope! The divorce rate is not the issue. Nice try though.

Now let's waste more time on garbage that doesn't affect the majority of Americans, while our country is swiftly going down the toilet. Let's just continue to allow the politicians to ignore the real problems, and solutions, while we're all distracted by another issue that has no business in the Federal debate. When are people going to stop worrying about what the Federal government isn't doing for them, and start worrying about what the Federal government is doing to all of us? I've had enough of the bullcrap issues interfering in the people's right to good government.

The divorce rate is not 70%
Besides, how would that have any bearing on the issue of same sex marriage? It doesn't.
They are two completely different things and to think that because heterosexual couples may fail does not mean homesexuals can do any better.
People are people wether gay or straight.

I have no clue? Has there been a study about it?

I'm all for gays being able to marry. But at the same time, I've known many gay people, and have never met any that weren't prone to infidelity in the extreme. So hetero marriages shouldn't have any affect on homo marriages at all.

By the way, your "70%" number is a bit high don't you think? I believe it's more lie 45%to 50%.

Denying them is a violation of religious freedom (civil and religious marriages are two separate institutions).
Marriage benefits (such as joint ownership, medical decision-making capacity) should be available to all couples.
Homosexuality is an accepted lifestyle nowadays with a proven biological causation.
Denying these marriages is a form of minority discrimination.
It doesn't hurt society or anyone in particular.
The only thing that should matter in marriage is love.
The number of child adoptions should increase since gay couples cannot pro-create (although some might see an increase in gay adoptions as an argument against same-sex marriages).
It encourages people to have strong family values and give up high-risk sexual lifestyles.

What is the % of divorces between homo's?

The loss of moral conduct is the cause of divorce.
When sex became an entertainment device, and single parenthood was condoned the moral code went to He.. in a handbasket.

What is marriage?

Why don't we just stop getting married, have sex with anyone we want, and let society become a collection of individuals with serious identity problems.

I sure don't want my grandchildren growing up in a society that has no respect for GOD's creation with the intended purpose of sex to be for pro-creation.

King Solomon is a prime example of how our creator feels about the human race having no respect for the unity of marriage, and the bibble also speaks very sternly about homosexuality.

Don't look to others for a "cop-out" about your identity crisis. Homosexuality is just an excuse to evade the committmeent and responsibility of developing a good solid nurturing environment for the children you bring into this world.
