Wow! How does a postal worker making $49,000/year (who just refinanced) afford to be soooo generous?

Look at almost any post that includes the word "liberal" or "conservative" in it. You'll find exactly what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter who posts it. For the most part, what you'll be seeing is a lot of backhanded arguments about how one side is stupid, or made up of Nazis, or full of socialists, tree-huggers, close-minded idiots, or corporate lapdogs. You'll see someone argue how that group hates America, or the poor, or minorities, or health care in general, or animals, or whatever. And the responses will always tend to feed into it.
What's the goal of all this? Can't we have a reasoned debate about it? At least give reasons for these vast claims of debauchery and wrongdoing, it'd be nice to know how and why you think this way. I'm reaching out to others online to find out what they've seen because there's no way this is getting solved soon. Is this just me seeing all this, or has debate gone the way of the Dodo?

To me, rebuilding a city lower than sea level – a city that will need to be rebuilt again and again, is just not logical.

Why not build a “New – New Orleans” on higher ground?

According to my last question, American cities and car accidents are each more deadly than an afternoon stroll in Baghdad.

I often see people saying that rising immigration will lead to rising crime, including murder. However, when one looks at crime statistics for major US cities, the lowest murder rates are mostly in cities with huge Hispanic populations, like El Paso and Corpus Christi. The highest murder rates are in cities like Detroit and Baltimore, which have very small Hispanic communities. Am I missing something, or are the anti-immigration people making things up to try to have a stronger case against immigration?

Koch Foods in Fairfield, Ohio, was raided by about 300 agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Fairfield police and Butler County Sheriff's deputies, they surrounded the building just after 9am and by 11:45am, 160 people out of 180 that were questioned were handcuffed and arrested.

Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Monte Mayer said hundreds of federal agents, sheriff's deputies and other local law-enforcement officers joined forces in a raid at Koch Foods in Fairfield, Ohio, in what he called "the latest crackdown on illegal aliens and the businesses who employ them."

As of early afternoon, Sgt. Mayer said more than 160 people had been arrested on immigration violations.

Immigration spokesman Richard Rocha said the operation was the end result of a two-year investigation.

"I've been saying for 2½ years we're coming," said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones during a news conference Tuesday afternoon. "Don't have illegals. Don't violate the law. I personally have no sympathy for you whatsoever."

All Sen. Craig was doing was trying to get some love from across the wall. Didn't Dionne Warwick sing "What the world needs now is love, sweet love" Why does it matter if you get love and comfort in a private bathroom stall in a public restroom than a private bedroom. I mean, it wasn't like he was gonna moan and bother someone.

So it turns out that Larry Craig plead guilty and was convicted of "Disorderly Conduct", not anything to do with lewd conduct or homosexuality. So the gay thing and the lewd conduct is just an unsubstantiated allegation, similar to all the unsubstantiated allegations against Bill Clinton. Why is everybody who was NOT in that bathroom claiming that it is a certainty that he solicited gay sex? Seems to me the only "fact" here is that he plead guilty to "disorderly conduct". Isn't this just a liberal distortion and hatchet-job?

40 years after Fred Korematsu was convicted he decided to challenge it again. His case was heard as a corum nobis case (whic is used only in special circumstances to correct errors in a criminal conviction). The court ruled that newly uncovered evidence revealed the existence of a manifest injustice which—had it been known at the time—would likely have changed the Supreme Court's decision.A series of documents recovered from the National Archives showing that the government had withheld important and relevant information from the Supreme Court that demonstrated that the Army had altered evidence to make it appear that Japanese Americans posed a greater threat of spying and disloyalty. The corum nobis decision overturned Korematsu's conviction based on the faulty evidence, but did NOT overturn the constitutionality of the Supreme Court's decision.
MY QUESTION: Why do you think the District court did this? and what exactly does the "did not overturn the constitutionality.." thing mean?

This morning I observed an officer take a poodle on a leash from the backseat of his squad car and take the dog into the dog grommers. Are policemen allowed to use the squad car for such personal errands ? Should I report this ?
