I, myself, have a hard time seeing how current events will result in economic growth. Recovering from having the crap bombed out of you is not the same as economic growth.

It would help slow the spread and allure of terrorism. Terrorisms stuanchest supporters have nothing to lose; people with an increased economic standing have something to lose, making them less likely to support radical ideas.

if the profits end up in a few wealthy persons hands, it's not going to reduce terrorism

It certainly won't end it. If you look at the demographic that makes up terrorists, they tend to be middle to high income groups. It's not an issue of poverty.
