When a Republican does something stupid he is immediately asked to step down by Republican leadership.

Not so for the Democrats. Williams Jefferson still serves. Why haven't the Dems asked him to step down?

So which party has a culture of corruption?

You're absolutely right. Republicans have no misconceptions that their politicians are saints. But unlike the Democrats (for the most part), when one of ours is caught doing something illegal or immoral, he/she is forced out of office...certainly not re-elected. The Democrats don't do a thing. William Jefferson is only one example of many.

ck4289: I never agreed with Gonzales on immigration, so I'm glad to see him step down, but what did he do that was illegal? Nothing. Whether you agree with the reasons or not, he had the absolute right to fire those federal prosecutors.

Oh really?

Why did it take so long to get Gonzales to step down from being Amnesiac General then?

Republicans [for the most part] take responsibility for their actions. Demonrats refuse to do so because they feel "it's someone else's fault" or "it's not my responsibility. I think you've answered your own question here, but I'll elaborate for the other people here: DEMONRATS=CORRUPT
