I have noticed, of late, many misconceptions about Canadians in posts. So that leads me to wonder - what is the general opinion or impression of Canadians held by the American people?

08-14-07 Four suicide bombers nearly struck simtaneously at communities of a small Kurdish sect in NW Iraq, killing at least 175 people and wounding 200 more.

The only thing that's "rosy" now is my forehead because I get a little steamed when I think of how arrogantly President Bush has actively defied the will of the American people.

I work as a temporary bail bond agent in the state of Florida. In order to become permanent agent I have to go through 1 year apprenticeship under a bail agent. My boss is going to have me sign a non-compete form in order to prevent me from quitting after my year is up and opening my own business.
I want to know, can this form really prevent me from quitting after I get my license and opening my own business in the same county? Or is this form really just meant to erase the thought about me opening my own business. I have worked for 2 other bondsman, so he wouldnt have taught me everything about the business. Also, how long are they effective, if it can be used against me.

It just seems all we can do as a sivalization is kill each other, and to hell with anyone who tries to get in the way. If we as a people would worked harder on our relationship with other countries and less on killing we may get farther then i believe we ever will in this life time.

Just a quick civics lesson:we have a democratic form of government based on majority rule.
Why do Liberals insist upon using legislation and the judicial system to force their agenda upon the majority of Americans who oppose it?

Someone I know may be going there (Air Force), and I am very worried. I would like to know how safe the airport is. I know that the road leading to town is never safe, but I would like to hear from anyone who's in the know about that area......I don't expect many details, just a general answer is fine. Thanks so much

Last week we got another glimpse of the Left’s true feelings about our troops. At a campaign breakfast in Iowa, anti-war Daily Kos diarist Rachel Griffiths asked Mitt Romney why none of his five sons enlisted in the military. It’s a popular form of “gotcha” that the Left likes to play in order to bring out their favorite cat call – Hypocrite! Romney responded, “My sons are all adults and they’ve made decisions about their careers and they’ve chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I’d be a great president.”

Browsing Y!A, it seems that at least a couple of people have studied multiple languages under the auspices of one or another branch of the U.S. military, but I'm wondering how common this is and what it is dependent on. It also seems that the choice of language is entirely up to the military, but at least one person mentioned the possibility of putting a specific language in your contract. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have studied multiple languages and/or worked with multiple languages as military linguists. Finally, does every branch of the military have linguist positions, and do linguists in the different branches generally do pretty much the same job?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you watch any of the cable news channels, they are already spending hours each day discussing the race. Don't get me started on the overkill on the analysis of the recent Iowa straw poll! lol

Seriously, I almost yearn for the days when they spent more time on discussing whether or not Britney or Lindsay were wearing underwear! (I said ALMOST, okay? lol)

Do you feel there is too much coverage at this point in the race? Do you think there should be more?

Please share your thoughts.

With all the radical alliances they have formed , it's difficult to see them as good for America . Sure , they do good from time to time , but Al Capone gave loads of money to the poor so I guess you could say he did some good too but that doesn't make him a good guy .

I'd really appreciate your thoughtful opinions .
Thank you .

What's the point now of having it? I do think there is a conspiracy to make the white race as taboo as possible in America. There was an article in a local newspaper that said many corporations are trying to avoid hiring anybody white (even hispanics of Euro ancestory that look white) since many of their customers are non-white and don't feel comfortable dealing with white or "white-looking" people. Over 150 of the Fortune 500 companies admitted to this. However, the paper refused to mention the names due to "confidential agreements".

A Somali arrives in Minneapolis as a new
immigrant to the United States.

He stops the first person he sees walking down
the street and says,
"Thank you Mr. American for letting me in
this country, giving me housing,
food stamps, free medical care, and free
education!"
The passerby says, "You are mistaken, I am
Mexican."

The man goes on and encounters another
passerby. "Thank you for having such
a beautiful country here in America !"
The person says, "I not American, I
Vietnamese."

The new arrival walks further, and the next
person he sees he stops, shakes
his hand and says, "Thank you for the wonderful
America !"
That person puts up his hand and says, "I am
from Middle East , I am not
American!"

He finally sees a nice lady and asks, "Are you
an American?" She says, "No,
I am from Africa !"
Puzzled, he asks her, "Where are all the
Americans?"
The African lady checks her watch and
says..."Probably at work."
