http://www.townhall.com/columnists/WalterEWilliams/2007/08/15/deadly_environmentalists

Environmentalists, with the help of politicians and other government officials, have an agenda that has cost thousands of American lives.

In the wake of Hurricane Betsy, which struck New Orleans in 1965, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed building flood gates on Lake Pontchartrain, like those in the Netherlands that protect cities from North Sea storms. In 1977, the gates were about to be built, but the Environmental Defense Fund and Save Our Wetlands sought a court injunction to block the project.

According to John Berlau's recent book, "Eco-Freaks: Environmentalism is Hazardous to Your Health," U.S. Attorney Gerald Gallinghouse told the court that not building the gates could kill thousands of New Orleanians. Judge Charles Schwartz issued the injunction despite the evidence refuting claims of environmental damage.

In 2001, thousands of Americans perished in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. In the early 1970s, when the World Trade Center complex was built, the asbestos scare had just begun. The builders planned to use AsbestoSpray, a flame retardant that adhered to steel. The New York Port of Authority caved in to the environmentalists' asbestos scare and denied its use. An inferior substitute was used as fireproofing.

My neighbor across the street CONTINUALLY parks his 18 wheeler in front of our house. Its ALL we can see when we look out of our front windows. And sometimes he leaves it run for hours on end (I dont know why), and it is so loud it rattles the pictures on our walls so they hang crooked.

We live in a quiet little mid-income suburb neighborhood, and this guy is turning it into a trucking yard. I have made anonymouse phone calls to the police, and every time they make him move the truck. But he keeps on bringing it back.

Does anyone know what I should do? I dont want to confront him, because I dont want trouble (he's really an unfriendly guy). It is actually against the law to park an 18-wheeler in a residential street, right?

My online b/f is a cop in England. He said he has to be away for a couple of months or longer working on a case that he can't tell me about. He promises to tell me about it later.

He's never given me any reason to doubt him before. I do know for sure he is a cop. And, I truly get the feeling he is being honest with me.

Still...I've been known to be too trusting.

He said that sometimes he has to get "arrested" just to communicate with his fellow officers.

Does this sound legit to you?

I guess I don't fit any label. I'm not judgemental. I'm a little progressive in my thinking but I have morally conservative values on many things. What are you and have you always been "conservative" or "liberal?" And do you think that Republican means "conservative" and Democrat means "liberal?" BECAUSE I strongly disagree! Its just not always true.

I'm all over the place with this question but you get the jist. Labels are so misleading.
