As the first person said........ how are they going to find out about it?

But if they did? Well some companies do have policies where you can't be in a position of authority. But if he does a good job they might waive that. Some companies will do another background check say if when your became a full manager. What if your friend gets jail time? They could choose not to take him back.

I did see this article...

Basically it is saying is that the federal govt. is looking into walgreens because they feel that monorities are being somewhat discriminated against because they take criminal records and low credit scores into when hiring or promoting. And since minorities statistically have a higher percentage of both they don't get hired or promoted. Though not exactly the same thing WallGreens might be be hesitant to fire or not promote someone with a record of whatever race.

Now a good lawyer is the key as they can do many things. If your friend has no record (or much of one) a lawyer could get it plead down. That means he pleads guilty to a lesser charge and does probation or community service. Shoot a good lawyer could make short work of it. If it is his first offense he will probably be fine.

A good lawyer is key. If he has to sell his car, favorite guitar or whatever to get one he should. A felony will cost him far more over the years than a few thousand for a decent lawyer.

And above all....... when he goes to court he needs to look, walk, talk and dress like a Marine on his way to church.

To answer the question... sure someone could be an assistant manager with a felony... that is up to the employers policy. Second part of question... can he lose his job over it, I'm sure he can, however, if he already has the job it is likely he won't. I am not sure he needs to run right out and tell the employer he was just charged with a felony. If it is reported to his workplace though... again, it would be up to the employer.

As he works at a drug company, it is very possible he will lose his job; it is at the sole discretion of his employer. His best option would be upfront about the matter and if he has been there a long time, ask for support from his manager.

Keep in mind an employee is within their rights to discrimate against any employee due to criminal convictions.
