Libby, I know you aren't that stupid. I am sure you have heard or the Crusades, the French Revolution, The American Revolution, The Civil War, The Boer War, Korea, Viet-Nam, to name a few. Wars are SELDOM fought for resources. Because of the massive amounts of resources it takes to fight a war, yes, resources are taken from the countries conquered to continue the war effort, but that isn't what kicks off a war. Try religion, politics, and freedom as being the top 3 reasons with politics and freedom being pretty closely related.

Don't forget Afghanistan... the biggest opium producer in the world bar none. Who's production has rocketed since the american /british involvement there. A lotta money in opium.
And by the way.. to say the enemy are spreading propaganda is nonsense.. Iraq has absolutely no propaganda machine. And there is no real middle eastern propaganda in the west except for the few islamic scholars who preach it within the closed doors of their mosques. The biggest propaganda machine is the US news networks which are monopolized by the very few.

Lots of wars are based on religions, too, from the Christian Crusades right up to the current Jihads.

more countries have been taken over in the name of religion than resources. lets just close the borders to trade and become self sufficient and see what happens to the world.

War is NOT based on competition for resources. Even though you may not like the cause, or the President more specifically, please support our troops. it's the least you can do.

Funny... The only resource in Iraq is the oil and it was given back to Iraqie people. I think the ONLY thing you can count on in a war is that the enemy will try to influence your thinking with outlandish propoganda. My question to you is "are you a propogandist or simply an ignorant sheep blindly passing on propoganda?"

You left out many reasons....
Religion
Ethnic cleansing
Economic
Empire tactics
on and on
Resources are not the only reason
America's main reason since 1776 has been political.
