Someone I know may be going there (Air Force), and I am very worried. I would like to know how safe the airport is. I know that the road leading to town is never safe, but I would like to hear from anyone who's in the know about that area......I don't expect many details, just a general answer is fine. Thanks so much

BIAP's fairly safe, they get occasional Mortar, Rocket Attacks, but Hadji typically couldnt hit a Barn from Inside. Even then many of the Hits are Duds.

I havent heard of one USAF pers. there getting killed or wounded while working there.

By the way, Route Irish isnt that Bad, I patrolled it for 7 months

Well its got a little biddy control tower, and lots and lots of runways were big ole jet planes come and go, and in the surrounding areas there are lots of containers used by the troops and staff who live there (the unlucky ones get to live in tents) and on a good day those bad, naughty insurgents boys, try to hit it with their little old fuddy duddy wockets, you know like the ones wylie coyote gets from the ACME trading Company!!!
But there are lots and lots of bunkers to hide, er... i mean shelter in!!

I had a buddy that just returned from there, he got shot at almost every day while there. Not what you want to here but its the reality of it.
