I would like to run for public office. I am not a Democrate or Republican. Why is it so hard for an average American to run for office when crooked people get in so easy? I'm not a politician and I think this very reason would make me a good canidate. I come from the low to middle income bracket so I feel like I would be more intouch with the real world. Any thoughts?

The Way I see it...if Barak Obama was White, running in the Republican party and named "Richard Morrison" or something more "American" He'd probably be leading in the polls.

The Democrats have Clinton Nostalgia and therefore want Hillary in the White House, but I feel if Barak was White and named Eric or something more "american", he'd be beating her...

...saying the exact same things he is saying now.

The way I see it, Barak is the best man for the job but he is doomed to fail simply cause he's not a White male.

Nothing will change, because Bush isn’t the problem. It’s true, he’s not doing anything but making our problems worse, but getting rid of him will not solve anything.

It is a fact that China owns over a trillion dollars of our national debt. They have threatened to sell that trillion dollars to anyone who wants it if Congress passes any laws rectifying our trade deficit with them, imposes any taxes on Chinese goods (the Chinese tax our goods) or there is any repercussion whatsoever from Chinese products being poorly made and highly toxic. If China sells that trillion dollars our economy will collapse.

England and other countries have three or more contending political parties. I believe it would help to alleviatge voter apathy. Often it seems there is no real choice at all for most Americans.

In light of the previous post, here is an old Bush joke that you have probably heard before. But if you haven't, you can rate it.

George Bush looks out his bedroom window one January morning. During the night, someone has peed "W s*cks" in a snowbank near the window. Enraged, George immediately calls the FBI to investigate. "This is an outrage!!" George yells, "I want you to find out who is responsible for this right now!!"

So a team of investigators goes out into the snowbank and runs some tests. A half an hour later, a FBI agent reports back to the President".

"Mr. President, I have some good news and bad news for you", the investigator starts. "The good news is that a urine analysis indicates that the urine belongs to former President Clinton."

"Ooohh." Bush laughs and rings his hands, "Once I go to the papers with this, I'm going to bring down the Democratic Party. What's the bad news?"

The FBI agent says, "It's Laura's handwriting."

Now i want to put my thoughts out there. Yes, i may only be 17, but i think i know how to run this country better than politicians. It just seems to me like they see it as a "Title" not a job. They all just want to be re-elected therefore they just state neutral ideas mostly and bicker back and forth about them, playing it safe. It seems like politcians dont want to take controversial action to try and solve problems. Our leaders of previous generations did what was best for our country at the time, sometimes sacrificing their re-election or popularity for the good of the nation...where are these people?

Like most people, I recognize that a failure to resolve the Israel-Palestine dispute is the basic cause of conflict in the region. But I don't believe the US and Israel will seriously negotiate on the Palestinian issue while Israel is the only country in the region with nuclear weapons. What is their incentive?
