Not sure you 'forged' or wrote the treaty, but it was signed by John Adams and ratified unanimously by the entire senate after it was read aloud in it's entirety.
Article 11, reads:
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
So, the senate knew exactly what it was signing and what it meant when they signed it and it states exactly what the USA is NOT: a Christian nation.

Joel Barlow.
You need to read the 1st amendment. The word "christian" is not there. The idea being religious freedom. Art 11 is a correct statement.

the 'god' that george washington worshiped was NOT Jehovah.
george washington was a freemason, as were most of the founding fathers.
many of them were moral men, however, and many of them were just like the politicians of today. that is why washington wouldn't run for any more presidencies, and why he didna want to be entombed in washington amongst all of those criminals.
some of the founding fathers were 'christian' and the MAIN portion of america's immigrants were christian sects from europe. among them were dutch amish, quakers, and shakers, baptists, lutherans, episcopalians, and catholics.
the 'god' of the pledge and on the money is NOT Jehovah, the One True Almighty God of Israel. He is the One of whom Jesus spoke when he said, "I am going my way to my God and your God, to my Father and your Father."
the Bible says "there are many gods, but only One God, the Sovereign Lord Jehovah."
