Way old news. He was fired though. The chief of police in Dayton fired him. Then the FOP went to court for the officer and made the City rehire him. It's unfortunate though. The video is on You Tube. He was clearly wrong and later even admitted that he knows he was wrong and only gave her a 10 spot.
My brother is a Sheriff Deputy, so I'm not cop bashing here, but this guy truly crossed the line.

She should have got more and the cop is a good case for public flogging in police brutality and authority abuse. It seems to be the only way they will learn
Yet some claim there is a screening system to keep the bad ones out. This guy is obviously a physco or on drugs. he should have been fired and charged with assault with a deadly weapon
Say it's old news but still unfinished business because it's still another nutcase with a gun on the street

Well, I do have sympathy for her. She was in the right since the cop later admitted he didn't give her a 20. She had a right to argue with him when she knew he was lying. Cops aren't "special people". They're just citizens like everyone else.
What a jerk he was to pepper spray her when she was in the right and he KNEW she was in the right. Citizens shouldn't have to take crapola from cops just because they're cops.
Cops aren't special and they shouldn't have that much power over citizens.
What this cop did was abuse of power. The US isn't a police state yet.

first use you spell check! Then as a law enforcement officer, i would want to see the entire tape/video and audio prior to making a judgment. Ever here of getting all the facts. Then if the officer was in the wrong he should be punished either criminally if it warrants, or through the department for not following procedures. You cite that he was not punished, most departmental punishments are not public record. If he was not criminally charged then the States attorney in your area, decided no crime was committed. As far as her being paid, most cities will pay out a small amount, if they believe that it would cost even more to fight it. It is a stupid thing to do, because then people like you stand on their stools and complain, without all the facts.

Eh.
The Officer made a mistake. Two, really, since he didn't let another Officer handle the situation.
However:
SHE resisted arrest. Had she complied with the officer and done what he asked, she wouldn't have been pepper sprayed. Yes, she was innocent.. But when an Officer says you're under arrest, you don't resist.
I have NO sympathy for her at all. She could have avoided the pepper spray by doing what she was told to do, period. THEN sued the Department.

I don't think we really know if he got repremanded. The news doesn't know everything. I am sure that they had to do a report on spraying the pepper spray. He made a dumb move, sure, but we are all human. Anyway, who do you think is giving that girl the 60G? The department he works for? No.

That cop was an idiot. We have a department policy in cases like this, another officer should investigate. It's not a super clear policy, but it does cover things like this.
