The democratic party panders to minorities and the poor for votes. In doing so, they alienate everyone else. This is not the base to build a future on. They must begin to seek out common ground with the mainstream Republican and Democrats.

I had to re-write this question - I origionally asked "what would a liberal written constitution look like?" and the libbies jumped down my throats because "the founding fathers were considered liberal in their day".

Well that may be true, but guess what? The founding fathers would be considered very conservative by TODAY's standards. That fact being out there, how would TODAY's liberals frame a government? Ban religion? Ban arms? Right to privacy? Right to bear and use drugs?

Mexico has urged the US to alter its plans for expanded fences along their shared border, saying they would damage the environment and harm wildlife.

The fences threaten unique ecosystems, Mexican environment officials warned.

Mexico was ready to file a complaint with the International Court of Justice over the matter if the US did not respond, the environment minister said.

The planned barriers aim to curb illegal immigration, a highly divisive and controversial issue in the US.

The fences, planned along a possible 700 miles (1,125km) of the border, are to be equipped with hi-tech surveillance equipment, including sensors and strong lights.

"The eventual construction of this barrier would place at risk the various ecosystems that we share," Mexico's Environment Minister Juan Rafael Elvira told a news conference.

Those areas include Baja California, Sonora and Arizona, home to one of the world's most important desert ecosystems - the Sonora Desert.

Cactus fences

Officials said Mexico was prepared to file a complaint with the International Court of Justice but wanted to explore alternatives first.

US Army personnel install sections of the US-Mexico border fence July 2007 near Puerto Palomas Mexico. Most of the illegal immigrants enter the US via the Mexico border

A report prepared for the Mexican government by experts and environmental activists from Mexico and the US said the barriers could isolate border animals into smaller groups, affecting their genetic diversity.

These include jaguars, Mexican black bears and the endangered antelope-like Sonora Pronghorn.

The use of intense lights and radar could also affect nocturnal species, they said.

The report suggested ways of minimising environmental damage, including "green corridors" of wilderness without roads.

These would allow wildlife to remain connected but not provide an easy route for people trying to cross.

Another proposal was "live" fences of cactuses, or permeable barriers to allow water, insects and pollen to cross the border.

The US Homeland Security Secretary, Michael Chertoff, has said that the fencing is needed. He has rejected arguments that the Rio Grande provides an adequate barrier as water levels in the river often drop, allowing people to wade across.

An estimated 12 million illegal immigrants are in the US, where attempts at a comprehensive overhaul of immigration law have repeatedly stalled in Congress.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6924475.stm

I’m sure the animals will adjust. The birds can fly over, the rodents and lizards can burrow under, and the rest of them will just have to make do with whatever piece of that desert they find themselves in after the fence is finished. They make it sound as if the poor things will need conjugal visits.
The fences threaten unique ecosystems,

Right. The mexican raw sewage deoes not “threaten unique ecosystems”

The hundreds of mexican trash piles in national forests located on the mexican border does not threaten unique ecosystems.

The foot trails that go through restricted wildlife areas do not threaten unique ecosystems

The border industries that have little to no pollution control do not threaten unique ecosystems.

I bet our fellow Americans can post photos of various Mexican items not threatening unique ecosystems.

But, of course, a stainless steel/galvanized steel professionally installed fencing system will cause immediate, extensive, catastrophic, irreversible harm to those very same unique ecosystems
It couldn’t be as harmful as hundreds of thousands of people throwing trash everywhere and stomping down fragile vegetation.

I'm talking about the speed in the commercials. I swear to God, in the commercial, they drive like freakin' 75 mph when what, people aren't allowed to actually go that fast in real life as far as I know. I don't like it. I don't like that false advertising. I really hope they chage the speed law up to 65 mph. 55 mph, in my opinion, is too slow, espcially when cars have better responsive speed and braking than those big boats like
Ford Galaxies from 30 years ago, don't you agree?

With all that speed advertising in car commercials, that makes it a cruel tease if the speed limit is still a slow 55 mph.

My friend works at a wal-mart in California and there is a man and woman of (Middle Eastern desent) that are buying cell phones by the dozen at the wal-mart. They buy them every few weeks and say that they are for family when they are asked about it by the cashier. I know that some terrorsits have used cell phones as some sort of detinater.

The management has been notified of this by the employees. Management says that there is nothing that they can do because they are afraid of being sued.

My friend is very concered about this (as she well should be). What can be done to have the authorities investigate this? What can we do?

This is based on me winning the lotto and or having a relative die and leaving me an insane amount of money -

There are about 25 floor staff where I work - Time and time again I've see disrespect and so on for these "uneducated" labourers - It makes me angry

The people above me have told me if I want to join them on the floor that can be arranged etc

So ----

If I handed out 10,000 dollars to each one of them on condition they quit - a total of 250,000 (1/4 million)

The floor staff the true engine would be gone - I am thinking this would be a good little lesson in where the engine and the "important" people are and it isn't a paper pusher in an office who does little to justify an over inflated wage -

But assumeing I win the lotto - and did this and everyone (or 90% plus) took me up on my offer

Could I be charged with an offense if so what is it ?

It was liberals that supported a new concept called Democracy. Conservatives opposed it. They supported King George. Liberals supported the bill of rights. Conservatives opposed it. Liberals were against slavery, conservatives supported it. Liberals were against Child Labor, conservatives supported it. Liberals supported equal rights for women, conservatives opposed them. We are running out of space so I'll get right to the point. In the USA, Liberals supported a war against Adolph Hitler, Conservatives apposedt it. Wake up. Jesus was crucified by conservatives who hated his liberal concepts.

Love your enemy?” Give me a break.

I've just started my first job as a cashier. I do fine except for those times when a customer says "Wait, I have change here.. I'd like less back" After i've already rung up their transaction. How do I go about figuring out what to give them back at this point?

EXAMPLE: Total comes out to 13.32 and someone hands me a 20 dollar bill but then says "Wait, I think I have some change here" after i've already rung in the 20.

My husband just ETS'd from active army. He was a cavalry scout and recieved lots of ribbons and it seemed like he really enjoyed what he did. Suddenly he just decided to get out when his ETS date came up. He thought he would be the pick of the litter when he applied for law enforcement jobs but that wasn't the case. It's been 2 months now and no job. My income is our only source and I am getting a little frustrated. We have a child and we need health care. I thought we would be back home by now and having our own place but that hasn't happened either. I am also a student and part of me wants him to get back in the army but because of the war, part of me wants him to find a civilian job fast. Sometimes I feel like going off on my own and let him figure it out because it is too much for me sometimes.
Any advice?

A college student was arrested Sunday in the slashing of 42 tires on 13 government vehicles in an Army recruiting office parking lot, saying he was angry about the war in Iraq, authorities said.

Following a number of calls about a man wearing black and slashing tires, two deputies stopped a 19-year-old college student from Colorado as he tried to run from the lot shortly after midnight Sunday, a Kitsap County sheriff's office report said.

The man put up his hands, dropped a knife and, after being made to lie on the ground and being read his rights, asked, "Is this the time where I can confess?" deputies wrote. On a portable breath test, his blood alcohol level registered .168, more than twice the legal threshold for intoxication, according to the report. He told deputies he decided to slash the tires of Army recruiting vehicles because he "hated the military and the government and the war we were in.
