A college student was arrested Sunday in the slashing of 42 tires on 13 government vehicles in an Army recruiting office parking lot, saying he was angry about the war in Iraq, authorities said.

Following a number of calls about a man wearing black and slashing tires, two deputies stopped a 19-year-old college student from Colorado as he tried to run from the lot shortly after midnight Sunday, a Kitsap County sheriff's office report said.

The man put up his hands, dropped a knife and, after being made to lie on the ground and being read his rights, asked, "Is this the time where I can confess?" deputies wrote. On a portable breath test, his blood alcohol level registered .168, more than twice the legal threshold for intoxication, according to the report. He told deputies he decided to slash the tires of Army recruiting vehicles because he "hated the military and the government and the war we were in.

I don't know if he was a liberal, I know a few that can make an intelligent sounding argument, even if I don't agree with it (hey, they're family). But I hope that the thing that all of us can agree on is that this guy is an idiot of the first order. I mean drunk and stupid is never a good combination. And now he has a federal charge of destroying government property, he is in for a rude awakening.

This question, in essence, is not a military question.
Unfortunately, these type of "liberal" or "conservative" questions on the war in Iraq clog up the Military category to the point where a plumber is needed to flush the crap out. This question is basically a Current Events question with its own political agenda. Next Military question, please!

Um, using 1 person as an example for a group that is more than half the population strong is a very weak and illogical argument.

No ! This is how a cowardly drunkard acts after drinking a couple of pops. This guy is more afraid of having to defend his own country, than he is the evil lurking all around him, that he cannot see.

You're right ! That does sound like a liberal, doesn't it ?

LOL. You're making one giant assumption here. You're assuming that the kid is a liberal (aka. a democrat). However, nowhere in your question or the news report does it state that he is in fact a liberal. Please don't make silly assumptions and make sure you have all the facts. For the record, this sounds like an Anarchist, not a socially minded American patriot.

Sorry kid, you're weak.

So you are generalizing that because one does this that makes all of us guilty. How about the military that are liberals and against the war? How about the families of military or vets that are against the war? We are all guilty.

Then by that same logic you would be guilty of torture of innocents . Right? Your logic.

Republicans support 'surge' that force troops to extend their tour duties, cut short their training, cut short their home stays...etc.
Republicans oppose longer home stay for troops. No Republicans support draft although Democrat Rangel have suggested idea of reinstating draft.

And you pick on teenager hoodlums for liberal example?

No.

The pen is sharper than any sword or knife. If you don't agree with the war or the people involved, write about it. Publish it. Get people involved. But destroying private property? Far from civil disobedience.

My husband is in Iraq serving his third time in combat...

In my opinion, no one gives our troops the honor and respect they deserve. WHO CARES IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH THE WAR OR BUSH. These men and women voluntarily carry the burden to defend this great nation only to come home to a bunch of whinny people who think their horrors and friends dying was "a waste of American tax dollars."

Thank the next soldier/airman/marine/sailor you see and get your head out of your butt!
