We've all heard the Michael Vick story and now cock-fighting has hit the mainstream media . Seems that it's illegal in every state except Louisiana . Governor Blanco has proposed a new law that would make it illegal there too . . . but not until next summer ? What ? What would be the delay ?
And obviously , SOMEBODY is going to these events . So who the heck are these 'somebodys' ? Do you know any ?
BTW , the roosters are equipped with razors on their claws to rip their opponents to shreds !! Nice 'sport' huh . Oh btw , a little checking will show you where this is a so-called tradition. . . . . . . .seems our peace-loving , compassionate , friendly , 'only here for a job to support their family' immigrants are very much involved in this . I don't want anyone to think I'm blaming them entirely , cause I don't . But it is worth noting .

Do You Know Anyone Involved In This Barbarism ?

Do you believe in...
* Temporary help while someone is down on their luck
* Job training and education "assistance"
* Requiring all able bodied people to work and contribute to society

OR do you believe in...
* Generational welfare (they need us - they can't do it alone)
* Rewarding bad behavior such as drug abuse with social security disability
* Requiring someone to work for their welfare check is akin to slavery (that was in a Milwaukee Journal article las year)

For years they argued that the Democrats did nothing to fix America, so we voted them into office, gave them full leadership of both the Presidency and Congress, yet they were unable to pass any real measures to make America better. They talk a good talk, but don't walk the walk!! If they claim to be so "CHRISTIAN" why haven't they voted to put GOD back into our schools and court houses? Why did they lie to us about IRAQ? Why didn't we attack Saudi Arabia instead of Iraq, thats where a majority of the 9/11 attackers trained and were born. If you want me to vote Republican this year, give me some good reasons. I don't want political basahing of democrat answers, but real answers that show positive encouragement and progression. And can someone tell me why the Republicans think it is OK for Americans to be paying $3.00+ for a gallon of gas and they still tell me things are better now than when Bill Clinton was in office, with what leg are they standing on?

I am going to enlist in the USAR and take ROTC in college some time in mid-late 2008, as I am still a senior in HS. My MOS would require the Secret Clearence, so would ROTC for a commission. I have heard both sides, I've heard that I dont have to turn in my citizenship, and others said I have to. Is there a RULE for this or is it 100% case-by-case as it is said?

If you take a look in the books, you'll realize that no other nation caused so many destruction, genocides, massive murders and pollution like USA. Stop doing it. Help the humanity! I'm not anti-american, but we see all this horrible behavior of your country (it remember Nazism).

Proposal: Should only those citizens who pay more in taxes than they receive in government benefits per permitted to vote? [One vote per person only]

Thoughts:

We would need radical tax simplification [eliminate most taxes so that only one or two remain].

We would also need benefit tracing to individuals, plus the benefits received by children and other dependents [immigrant family members, for example].

The taxes and benefits of businesses would need to be allocated [possibly based on percentage ownership for the time owned].

This would permit an annual accounting for each individual of her/his benefits received and taxes paid, after which his eligibility to vote for the next year could be calculated.

The concept could be applied at all levels of government, or at separate levels if all levels eliminated subsidies of programs run by other levels [Federal help for schools, for example]

Politicians would then have less reason to pork for voters.

D's can be too lenient on crime, but R's make a big deal out of small crimes but don't solve major problems. Some D's are too idealistic, but if R's were to totally control everything, the USA would become like a South American dictatorship. If the D's got out of control with bleeding heart generosity, people would (and do) milk the system and the rich would run w/ their $$. The R's can help by watching for abuses of the welfare system, but R cuts to schools is bad. The R plan of "creating more jobs" means cut full-timers and employees w/benefits and create a larger # of new low paying jobs, part time/no benefits. then the economy looks "good" as stockholders celebrate their gains, while workers lose their good jobs and fall into hard times. The D's are smart enough to not blame the poor, and try to protect workers. The R's would borrow $ and start wars to kill off the poor boys forever w/o the D's. Anyway I think both sides can serve a purpose in balancing the other.

what do you think of statements made by Gonzales that (basically) full justice is not for everyone and that it is the Executive's call on who receives it

Because some of the news outside of America, even in small third world countries, have very graphic and serious news. They are basically just showing everything that's happening in war-torn countries around the world, no family-friendly censorship. I mean, I used to think it was illegal to see a real dead person on television.

When I think of all the ways the millions of dollars wasted on presidential elections could help our economy and schools it angers me. To make matters worse is the fact that as Americans the joke is on us, because who ever does get elected, their first loyality will be to the lobbyist and corporations that funded their campaigns.

To me it smacks of fascism. We've always called our country America or the United States, we've never before called it the "Homeland".

What if they were sent to live in India, Pakistan, Africa, South America, or the Middle East etc... Would they beg to come back? It is ok to complain and to protest and to strive to have your voice heard, but there is a growing population of Americans that whine about everything as they sit with so much. Have we become politically fat as a nation?

I know this sounds stupid but I have never been arrested nor have I been to court.

I applied recently for this good paying jon and I was told as long as the background check came back ok, I would be hired. The boss celled me the next day and told me I could start next week on Wednesday. Monday I got a phone call and asked to come in. When I came in, I sat with my new boss and he told me that he had to decline on hiring me due to a felony conviction on my record. I asked for the information he had and his source and he refused to give it to me unless I requested it to the company in writing, by mail, to the human resources department.

I have lived in the same town all my life. I contacted the State Police and paid and got a state background check on me. I also went to the county and got my county background check. As I thought, it is clean. So what gives?

i have custody of my daughter during the school months wherever I live. Her mother has her for the summers, but is required to return her to me 2 weeks before school starts. She lives in colorado, and I in TN, where our custody hearing and papers were done, mother told me she had no plans on returning her, so I went and got her from Colorado. She, of course is throwing a fit and has called the police, lied and said she has custody, and I abducted my daughter, when I have my papers in front of me. Can i get in trouble? Did I do anything wrong?

Time was that soldiers who died overseas, say during ww1 and 2 would often be buried in a military cemetary in France for example. There were a number of logistical reasons for this. But now it is routine to bring them home. The result is that in Iraq or Afghanistan there are no military cemetaries for fallen Americans or any other foreign troops. Lets say for the sake of argument that these counries turn into peaceful, model, democratic states. The descendants of the natives there will see no record of the foreign troops who died there for them. I think that soldiers should have the right to choose their final resting place. There could be soldiers who have developed a great affinity for Iraq since serving there and would like to be buried there should the worst come for them.
But right now they have no choice. Their bodies are automatically returned to the US. Those who choose to lie in Iraq will provide a powerful reminder to the locals of just what went on and who died for them.

Hello. The current greatest empire I know of,and for all the wrong reasons,is all of the European Union member states. With no recourse to the people it serves, this rotten-to-the-core, unwanted, unwarranted and despicable Empire rules from Belgium. All the satellite states, including the United Kingdom, now have to kow-tow down towards it and its over-bearing,interfering and total infringement of its peoples rights and principles and their respective governments. If allowed to go unchecked, this ever-expanding, corrupt and politically inept Empire and all those who serve it,will eventually run everything and ruin everything in every country that its grubby arm reaches out to on a daily basis. In my lifetime, our once great and mighty Parliament has been reduced to nothing more than a local Council office whose bosses run it from a foreign land. The sooner all nations' citizens get a right to vote, the sooner this dictatorial organisation can be got rid of once and for all for all our sakes.
