Celtic is a tad confused.

Yes there is a quick ship bonus, for some jobs. And yes you will not see it until after your in Basic training.

Several jobs offer bonuses, for most you will get 1/2 up front (after you goto MEPS and depending on the ship date before you ship) and the other 1/2 at an interval specified in your contract.

I detest the 'recruiters lie' comments. Granted a few recruiters will tell you God himself is going to swear you in however those recruiters don't last too long. After a few soldiers start 'selling out' in Basic the recruiter is investigated and disciplined if needed / warranted.

Usually the problem is a soldier didn't ask a question and was surprised in Basic training. Or the soldier wanted a job for the money, then decided they got screwed because they don't like the job.

My advice as a Recruiter, don't get blinded by the cash. get a job that YOU want. We (recruiters) do not get extra credit or extra pay for pushing any special job (I have heard counselors in MEPS do, but I can not confirm or deny that). With our new system (FSR2S) we can lock you in a job, tell you all the bonuses your going to get, when you will get them, from your living room in about 30 minutes.

If its not in writing, it doesn't exist!

I blamed my recruiter for my initial 6 year enlistment when I heard that others in my job got 4 year enlistmenst. Instantly I thought my recruiter screwed me! However, it was actually the MEPS counseler that locked my job and 6 year contract. I neglected to ask if i could get a shorter tour.

So ASK QUESTIONS. A recruiters job is to answer them!

This is a blatant lie, trust me, if there is one thing I despise it a lying recruiter, and there seems to be a lot of them around, and they will get there bonus long before you will ever see a penny of the money this guy has promised you, if you truly feel that he is talking $hit report him to his superiors and they will SLAM him, if a person is signing their life on the line, the least they deserve is to be told the whole entire truth. You will not see a penny until after you finish boot camp and AIT, and you will only receive part payment at that point they spread it out over a couple of years, so be careful and double check what this creep is telling you. Good Luck!

yes, there are such bonuses. it will not appear in your contract until you report to MEPS for your final swear in, and you will not get it until after you successfully complete Basic Training.

Celtic: only some bonuses are not payable until after complettion of all schooling.. those are job specific bonuses. Quick Ships, College credit and general enlistment bonus are paid at the completion of Basic Training.

It is possible. I'm not sure of the amount or when you receive it, but there are "Priority training seats" that carry additional bonuses to the normal bonus. Get it in your contract, though, because you don't have to take anybody's word for it.
