It sounds like the US has to call itself the Homeland because we are an imperialistic power. We go into other countries and rebuild them in our Fascist image. So a homeland would discribe the center of Fascism. When our troops are in a far off land, they can refer to the USA as the "Homeland"! It does smack of Fascism ! We have a despot for a President!

The whole point of that vacuous euphemism is to inculcate the illusion of "US against Them." It gets its most diabolical incarnation in the combined fiction, "Homeland Security."
But hey, as long as we're letting the Constitution crumble, why not change the moniker of our country?
We could change one of our songs while we're at it.

Yep. It does bother me for the same reasons. But at least its better than what they were going to call it, "Moms apple pie land office of crushing your liberty" was too long.
