http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/citing-constituent-outcry-house-immigration-reform-caucus-sees-increase-in-membership-2007-06-26.html

"The House Immigration Reform Caucus, chaired by Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.), has seen a steady increase in membership since the Senate legislation was introduced with White House backing. Fifteen members have since joined the group, bringing its membership to a total of 108 members. The caucus fiercely opposes the Senate bill, which in principle would allow the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country to become legal citizens.

The growing membership in the caucus on both sides of the aisle could suggest major problems for any House immigration bill that includes the amnesty provision. Polling results from a recent Democratic survey also underscore that trend.

According to a Democracy Corps poll of 1,600 likely voters in swing districts, conducted June 10-14, 47 % oppose the Senate bill. Only 29 % of respondents favored it"

sued by a patient...but no notice of this is found at municipal court website...but I was one of the people giving care to this person...the POA/son had given instructions that he was not to be sent to the hospital "for any reason" and signed a paper for the facility (which I think was a mistake for the facility to agree to, but...not my call on that)....he slipped and fell at night and hit his head and broke his shoulder..I worked next day...

More than one year later, the administator got me in a room with the company attorney to give a statement "to help them out" since they were being sued by the POA/son...there is no record on municipal court website of any such lawsuit..I did so, but into it, I was not given access to all the records to aide my memory of the events ..Then when they got what they wanted, they later fired me on picky stuff in Oct. Now today their atty calls me to "set up a deposition"...thot i already did this once?

I am afraid they are setting me up somehow

I signed a contract to host an event at a local hotel, and on the weekend of the event the staff failed to provide most of the services guaranteed in my contract. I paid up front half and the other half the day before the event, and after the event I stopped payment on the second check. The hotel is completely unwilling to consider compensation even though I have pictures, evidence & witness testimonies that confirm the hotel basically ruined the event completely (and I'm out money & lost profits because of them). I reviewed the hotel on TripAdvisor.com and Epinions.com as well as filled out BBB & NYS CPB complaints, and the hotel sent me an email telling me to "cease and desist any & all libelous activities." Does anyone know what my rights are as a consumer who didn't receive the services I was guaranteed, and do I have the right to matter-of-factually share my experience with that hotel online? Thank you!

if you think that the US economy is NOT built on cheap labor you better think again. just imagine what farmers would do without people picking and packing their fruits and vegetables. most of those HARD low wage jobs filled with immigrants are what holds our economy intact. and Business owners don't necessarily pay LESS than the minimum wage BUT they CAN'T afford paying MORE either. I've been in the Farm business for 30 years and i know for a fact that it's extremely hard if not impossible to find Americans willing to work for 70 to 80 hours a week picking fruits in a 100 degrees weather for minimum wage (cause basically that's what Farmers can afford )

June 25, 2007 -- A Brooklyn mother and father got the shock of their lives when school officials informed them their brilliant 11-year-old girl was denied admission to an elite public school - solely because she's of Indian descent.

"I feel bad because I would have gotten in if I was white," Nikita Rau lamented over her failed bid to attend the Mark Twain School, IS 239, in Coney Island, a magnet school for gifted students.

I think it takes advantage of the poor. Poor people spend so much money on the lottery. A lot more than the middle class and the rich. They are spending their hard earned money because of despair and false hope. The middle class and rich make enough that they can invest in real estate or start a business. Poor people are in a predicament where any money they make isnt enough to keep up with inflation. Then rich politicans come a long , to raise their salaries they created this sceam to raise money. Government spending hasn't lowered a bit, so taxes stay the same. The odds of winning are at least a million to one which is like 10 times harder then private gambling casino's. The money raised is supposed to go to education. I remember when they first introduced the lottery when i was in high school. 22 years later there a douzes of lottery's, billions more raised, higher taxes and schools arent in any better shape.

Recruit people because there's so much information out there about the military? Let's face it, young people are more informed now due the internet. They can simply Google the military. Recruiter can't just sucker them into joining the military. Before the rise of the internet, recruiters probably told unimformed young people all kinds of things to get them to join. Now young people can Google anything recruiters tell them so they can make an informed decision.
