I doubt it. I do not know for sure. But here there are many gun-owners and much domestic violence, but I do not often hear of the two being related.
But a domestic assault conviction will keep a person from having a registered gun.

I know there is a correlation between illegal gun possession and criminality in general. Most legal gun owners tend to be law abiding in general. That includes laws regarding domestic violence.

Not that I'm aware of. Most of the people around here are armed. But that's also something anyone with a brain would do when you live in a rural area. I live on one end of our county, the sheriffs' office is 45 minutes away at the other end. Should anything happen and I'm not able to protect myself. Well.................
I have no neighbors here, no other houses in sight, and have been robbed. :)

My guess is "no". If you're to the point where you think you need a gun to protect yourself from an abusive partner, you're probably not sticking around in the relationship.

There's definitely a correlation between abusive partners and jail time. Have you researched this one? I'm sure there are statistics about how many domestic abuse offenders have/had a gun permit, and how many that aren't gun owners are involved in domestic violence.
