I think it takes advantage of the poor. Poor people spend so much money on the lottery. A lot more than the middle class and the rich. They are spending their hard earned money because of despair and false hope. The middle class and rich make enough that they can invest in real estate or start a business. Poor people are in a predicament where any money they make isnt enough to keep up with inflation. Then rich politicans come a long , to raise their salaries they created this sceam to raise money. Government spending hasn't lowered a bit, so taxes stay the same. The odds of winning are at least a million to one which is like 10 times harder then private gambling casino's. The money raised is supposed to go to education. I remember when they first introduced the lottery when i was in high school. 22 years later there a douzes of lottery's, billions more raised, higher taxes and schools arent in any better shape.

I fully support the lottery. In SC, the profits of the lottery go toward college funding for financially qualified students. People need to be personally responsible for how they spend their money.

I would much rather see cigarettes made illegal than the lottery. True, it wouldn't stop their production, but it would greatly eliminate it in public so non-smokers like myself don't have to deal with it.

I feel the lottery should be legal, but it should be run in a different manner. Instead of having one huge payout, that payout should be divided into several payouts.

No one needs $100 million in any lifetime.
I feel that when the payout becomes $5 million, it should be divided in two $2.5 million payouts, and every 2.5 million or less after that should be a third payout, or fourth, etc. That way more people would benefit, and

No one should be allowed to pick up a $1 million plus check without financial counseling (free) from professionals who will help the winner see the positives in investing the winnings to leverage their future.

Also, the money the state takes in should be used for education and for public school teacher's salaries, books, upgradng schools in poor neighborhoods.

Yes lotteries are just like cigarettes. They end up hurting everyone else around them. Like if a poor dude buys a ticket and then wins all the other poor dudes are going to buy one too! But most of the time the rich dud going to win because they can buy more tickets. I mean the lotteries all say they want to help people by giving them the oppurtunities. But if they really want to help then they can just hand the money to the poor!

No. Poor people, like the ones you have cited, should know that they can't invest their money in a lottery, when they need it for food.
