I am in my 60's and have applied for my first passport. Today, 2 months after applying I received a letter from the Dept of State. I live in California. Because my birth ceritificate name is different than my married name they asked for: 3 public records that include my current name, date and "Place of Birth." I have been looking thru many documents that I think will work OK, But....not one of them lists my "Place of Birth." Now what do I do??? I was born in Iowa and have lived in California for over 60 years.

Doesn't that come under the whole 'defamation of character' thing?

Will anyone have the testicles to say it was racism(poor black girl trying to destroy a bunch of rich white boys lives)?

In york county jail in alfred maine the correctional officers bring drugs and cigarettes into the inmates- they smoke pot with them and there is even one female officer wh is giving oral sex to male inmagtes. Why is this ok for CO's to do this? If an inmate hits a correctional officer with an object they get penalized but it is ok for a CO to hit inmates with objects. I know of an inmate that got hit beside the head with an object a CO tossed at him. What makes it right for the workers in the jail to commit violence?

I am an immigrant myself, and a US citizen. I love this country amd even though i value my traditions and herritage, am extremely proud of being an american citizen!

I find Americans are warm accepting people of different races and ethnicities. Why cant we all as Americans stand up for our beautiful country and not be intimidated when someone who broke the law and disrespected the country says you are a racist when you call them out on it???

Has the hand of just been to lenient on our celebrities so that know when the heavy hand of justice has come down, people are out raged. Example if it would have been you or me instead of Ms. Hilton no questions we would be in jail. And not just her but many, many others sex, drugs, etc. So my questions
1) Has the system been to easy for Clebs.?
2) Why are people outraged to have a drunk driver off the streets and in jail?
3) Why do you think movie stars get special treatment?
4) How can we change the system?
5) What would you do different?

A I understand it, the electorial colllege was created at a time in the United States, when the country was younger, and states were harder to reach, because of lack of media, ( unlike today). It makes no difference which candidate Democrat or Republican, even if they have the popular vote ( more votes than the other candidate) the electorial college can and have changed the results of the elections! In 2000,, in the state of Florida, election votes in many parts of the state were not counted or discounted. and that election was resolved by the candidate bush's governor brother Jeb. amd his state's Sup[reme court! I find that hysterically funny, and a gross miscarriage of justice. But many other times the electorial college decided the election by their votes, and negating popular votes. Any comments about this?

The Supreme Court rules in US v. Alvarez-Machain that it is permissible for America to abduct suspects in foreign countries and smuggle them into the United States for trial, without extradition approval from those other countries. Of course, the U.S. recognizes no reciprocal right for the reverse to happen on our soil. 1992 Supreme court ruling...it is not just bush!! there seems to be a pattern of eroding civil liberties for some time now. Do you agree? I think it is the phony war on drugs and the patriot act was designed more to further erode civil liberties than to fight terrorists as most of its measures would have done nothing to prevent or detect the terrorist acts of 9/11.
