Well first of all there is no such thing as being addicted to marijuana, its all in your head as it does not have anything in it that will cause you to become chemically addicted to it so therefore it is a mental addiction not a physical one, so if you want to quit, quit!
Now as to what you should do, well, I would get a lawyer, and not some wet behind the ears public defender either, get yourself someone who has experience with drug charges. Try contacting NORML for a list of recommended defence attorneys in your area. Say nothing to the police after this point and admit nothing sign nothing until after you have spoken with an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney from the list then take a public defender and get him to stretch it out to give you time to prepare a pretrial report on your activities and at that point I would sign up for a drug rehab program so that it looks good for you in court. Ya I know, the law sucks but it is the law and if you chose to exercise your right to Civil Disobedience you must be prepared to suffer the consequences. You know what they say-"Don't do the crime, unless you can do the time!" This is the route to go at this point though-get a Lawyer!

I have been sober since 4/6/91. I went to AA (court order). NA exists for you non drinking addicts.

I heard many versions of how life works (all opinion) from many different people. When YOU are ready to stop you will, that's my opinion.

In the mean time you will pay the price for your choices.

It is different for everyone. The most compelling statement I heard was a speaker that was using sarcasm to describe why we drank. He kept repeating the phrase "Because we're sensitive". This guy had an English accent and was using his most whiny voice. It was funny and to the point. On the serious side he said we would all stop our addiction at some point. We would stop on our own or die. Either way we would stop.

I wish you the best of luck. Choose wisely young Luke

I'd get a lawyer and not talk about it to anyone except my lawyer. Don't let these tough talking anti-drug pigs scare you. They think just because they have something shiny pinned to their shirt it makes them special. They'll get their prosecuting attorney to grill you into submission and try to get you to slip up in court in front of the judge or jury. Just stick to your story, and maybe you'll have a chance. Your sentence will depend on where you live because the laws vary from state to state. In Texas, anything under two ounces is a misdemeanor and is usually justified by probation and a moderate fine. If you stick to your guns and have a good lawyer, and with a little luck, maybe you'll get off easy. Your biggest problem is that it was in several bags instead of one. Two or more bags usually constitutes distribution and may not be so easy to get out of. I had a friend that got popped with a quarter pound, but because it was all in one bag, his lawyer was able to show that it was for personal use and all he got was probation and forty hours of community service. Good luck to ya.

As an ex-cop and a former cd counselor for 21 yrs, guess you're screwed. Lawyer up and don't take a plea agreement. Guilty or not, you're entitled to your day in court and a plea agreement only subverts our judicial process. The DA has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you are guilty. If they do a lousy job, you'll fare well. Hope you lay off the dope after this one, if not, expect more of the same.

you should take your punishment like a man---IF YOU CAN----you will be having a nice 5-10 YEAR vacation at a federal Penitentiary near you--or maybe NOT so near you as they DO like to put you in a place NOT so close to home. What a way to have ruined your life already.... 17, just BARELY STARTING OUT and you pull something STUPID like this---first off, you will cost your parents PLENTY by the time the trial is over and well, since you were CAUGHT with the goods, you might get a better DEAL if you plead guilty and if it's your FIRST offense, you might even get by with PROBATION or HOUSE ARREST or something lesser then Prison time... but you were caught with a LOT and a lot of different charges were probably brought against you... So, be prepared to break your mothers heart, destroy your parent's finances, spending up to 10 YEARS behind bars, having a permanent FEDERAL FELONY CONVICTION on your records which will limit you in Employment AND almost anything for your future...... including marriage--a lot of girls out there will have NOTHING to do with an EX-CON (which is what you will BE once you get out of prison)....hope it all was worth it for you---oh and get this---for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, you will have the PLEASURE of filling out one special little question that is on EVERY SINGLE JOB APPLICATION------"WHERE YOU EVER CONVICTED OF A CRIME"...... have fun explaining THIS one on all those future job applications....oh and the 5-10 years that you will be vacationing---get some HELP for your problems---they offer FREE help inside the prisons...

get help, like rehab clean up your self-up pee clean it will show the judge that your for real. try and delay your court date as long as you can go AA,Na meetings you might just get off with a year or two of probation. just tell the judge that your know you did wrong and your getting the help you need and that jail will keep you from that help. just don't f* it up and remember you will have to take drug tests once or twice a week.
good luck!

Work with an attorney and the county.. See if you can plead to a lower charge. plan on doing time, getting rehab, and saying whatever you can to get out of serious time ..Courts are busy they usually find a way to plead out cases.
