Doesn't that come under the whole 'defamation of character' thing?

Will anyone have the testicles to say it was racism(poor black girl trying to destroy a bunch of rich white boys lives)?

I will and that was also the motivating factor as to why Nifong pursued the case. He was so far behind Freda Black in the polls he needed the "black" vote to win the primary and the general election so he latched on to this with both greedy hands.
I will now state something uncharitable....that damn heifer needs to go to jail, but the State AG is not going to do anything about it because he thinks she has mental problems. I say if she mental, she won't know she is in jail. Put her there, she set back genuine rape victims and race relations in that city by decades and she should pay big time..
She just hated doing what she was doing, being a stripper, and thought these " white boys" would have been an easy mark to make money from. She probably was hoping they would have paid her to go away. Well her little plan backfired.
I also say, they should sue her. We know Crystal Mangum has no money BUT they should get the opportunity to enter a judgement against her where she has to pay them each $1.00/wk for the length of time these guys had been facing -30 years. The payment is symbolic to remind the witch what her lies cost. If she misses a payment, jail for 30 days and she would still have to pay them the missed payments even while in jail.

If District Attorney, Mike Nifong, who prosecuted the case, can be disbarred for breaking several rules of professional conduct, including lying to both the court and bar investigators and withholding critical DNA test results from the players' defense attorneys, then YES, Crystal Gail Mangum should also pay a price for the lie, which she CREATED. The attorney's actions were a MANIFESTATION of her creation. If he has to pay a price like that, then she should too. Period. Otherwise, don't even take that man's job from him like that, without getting her too! Double standards should NEVER be tolerated within the Justice System. The district attorney was the 'sower' of the seed that SHE planted! If the Justice System rules that he reap what was sown, they better ask that the 'planter' come forward. Otherwise, justice does NOT prevail! If the attorney's actions should cause him to lose his job, then the 'planter',Crystal Gail Mangum, should get the same...at least! Enough with the double standards! We should NEVER allow the Justice System to tip the scales that balance! If they cheat ONE person, they cheat ALL!

People are scared to be made out a racist thats why. In the last few decades racism has flip floped, some things are the same but alot has changed not all for the good of race relations.

Unfortunately, nothing will happen to that sleazy easy stripper, but I sure do hope that the next time she cries and makes another false accusation again, they won't take her seriously. She is poor, a stripper who needs to prostitute herself and dance to make money and the Duke students have the monetary means because they are going to college, and she wants some money.

I think anyone that has been PROVEN to be lying about rape should get the same sentence that would have been handed down to the falsely accused.

I think that the prosecutor is just as guilty, if not more so.

I don't think racism had anything to do with IT. But she should have to spend as much time in jail as the Boys would had had to.I Don't care what color she is or what color the boys were.

How do you know she was lying? There was not enough evidence to support a conviction but that doesn't neccessarily make her a liar - rape is notoriously difficult to prove and it is possible that she told the truth but that it couldn't be proven. Maybe people shouldn't be so judgmental.

Having said that, if there was evidence that proved she lied there is much legal recourse - firstly there's defamation, then there's also making a false report to police etc.
