I know this is how they do it in the navy, but I was just wondering. Also, if you enlist during a war time, will your chances of going to Iraq be the same as the marines? Is it scary and hard out there? One more question: How many soldiers die out of 100?

can someone please explain why a missile defense system is worth losing the good will of the major powers...esp. when our real threats are from terrorism and Iran and N. Korea have no viable missile force to use against us...it would be easier for N.Korea or Iran to put a bomb in a ship and sail it into NY harbor than waste the money on missiles...Is there a logical reason to cause Putin to aim missiles at Europe in response?

What do you do if a newspaper wrote a front page story about a crime and called you a thief before you were convicted and stated inacurate facts, and put your name? There also was some lewd comments after the story. Is this libal defamation? Or are you just guilty before you can be proven inocent.

or was it overthrown by by the law in question? In other words, if the president usurps certain powers and authorities at the expense of constitional rights is that legal ground for dismantling the government or has a change of government already taken place in a subtle coup that crept in below the radar? If a coup has taken place, what is the appropriate course of action?

regarding the Hilton cituation why are people so jealous and worried that she did not have to spend any more time in jail? would you like your child to remain in jail if you had the resources to keep them out of jail ? If anyone answers yes you are lying. Some people were born with lots of money and then there is people who condem them but really wish they were in their shoes. Lots of people get out of jail with much worse crimes . Doesn't any one feel bad for her it's a scary cituation and now she has to go back?

They work very hard and risk their lives every day protecting our borders so we can be safe and many of them die in the process.
They work with limited resources and guard over 6,000 miles of border with only a limited number or agents.
So why don't we hear more about them and give them the credit they deserve for making such enormous sacrafices?
Whatever happened to that fence we voted to have built along the border that no one is talking about anymore?
The men and women who Patrol our Southern Border are true heroes and it would be nice if we treated them with some respect and recognition for doing one of the most dangerous jobs we have in the United States of America.

i hope this makes all you people that don't do anything against the law happy now. I am ashamed of you all. The judge should be hanged at sunset, for lies, unusual cruel treatment. I am sure he has never been out drinking and then drive home. Want to know his name? How about the name of the officers who do the same thing. Got a couple of names of Texas Rangers too. I am sure you all take cabs home. What jealousy! You make me sick to my stomach. See how the law lies? Do as I say, not as I do!

As you probably already know, Mitt Romney is a Mormon. My question is, do we still have such a strain of bigotry in America that we would let that bother us? If you just don't like his politics, fine, but I've heard several reports that say around 25% of Americans would NOT vote for a qualified Mormon because of his religion. For women, and African americans it was something like 5%.

Do these same folks believe that military spending is also "throwing money at the problem?"

I would appreciate input for my own edification about support for the death penalty.

1) Do you currently support the death penalty?

If you answered yes to #1, please answer these theoretical scenarios:

2) Theoretically, if the death penalty were to cost more than life imprisonment, would you still support capital punishment?

If yes:

3) If the death penalty also didn't deter crime, would you still support it?

If yes:

4) If it were also true that the poor and blacks were more likely to be sentenced to death than the wealthy and whites, would you still support it?

If yes, why?

Personally I have read all the storys about why people think 911 was an inside job but heres what I dont get - I dont understand why if the government did 911 they invaded Iraq and Afganistan because lets be honest if the government did do 911 they would have been smarter to blame it on China afterall they are a bigger threat to us in the long run .

Any comments ?

Sooo many people here are misinformed on the subject of immigration, so let me clarify a few things. First of all, the immigration bill is still very much alive, and will be passed within a few weeks. Now, for those of you who are happy that the cloture was rejected and still hope that the bill wont pass, tell me this: You would rather let all the illegal immigrants stay here(including 800,000 REAL criminals) then actually know who is in the country and kick out the ones that do not respect this nation and that commit crimes here? Because not only does the bll actually allow the country to know who is here, but it also provieds border security, and until that is reached, only probationary legal status will be granted to undocumented immigrants. So ask yourself this: Do you want the immigration problem fixed? And do you want it fixed in a realistic way? Than support, not oppose, this great bill. It is the best way to fix it, and you will be gald you did once it passes.

I've seen people say that the death penalty saves money on clothing and feeding criminals their whole lives.
Other people have claimed that the capital punishment costs more money than life imprisonment.

Which do you think is true?

Like Iran say without consultation of any of the big nations. Would this make Britain the worlds main superpower. You may be puzzled but imagine Russia, USA and China. They now know we are pretty much a rogue state so if they take military action against us we would certainly fire off more nuclear bombs to end mankind so we sort of become the bully of the group like the tough guy at school really. May not have the money or power as the others but they all fear him.
