I qualify for all these jobs. Recruiters don't know what is open. They just tell you what you want to hear. I was told that the 1A8X1 was a just waiting for me. When I went to MEPS they told me that there were no more of that job in the year.

have you taken the ASVAB and determined what your line scores qualify you for? do you meet the other requirements such as normal color vision or ability to get a Clearance?

you should be talking to a recruiter to find out if you even qualify for any of these first.

Your recruiter is responsible for staying advised as to future openings in the schools that train these positions. In the Marine Corps, each recruiting district is allotted a limited number of seats in upcoming schools.. for the YEAR... so each July (beginning of the fiscal year) they are told how many seats they will have available to them in each school... for the entire year.

The jobs you've listed sound like they will require some pretty nice technical training... so the seats will go quickly. Work with your recruiter to see how many slots are opening up for their district in the new fiscal year, and jump on it when the opportunity comes up! If you wait to long, you lose out until next year's allottments!! My son joined through the Delayed Entry Program, to reserve a seat 18 months ahead of time... and waited until early July to do it, so he could select the career field and school he really wanted.

It just takes asking enough questions to really KNOW how it works with the Air Force... and making the best decisions for your life. If you have to wait to get the school you want, then do it. If you find out you need to jump on an opportunity, then don't be afraid to do it. No matter how long your enlistment is, it'll seem twice as long if you're not happy with your job.

Check online at www.usajobs.com. That's the federal government job board. You can narrow the search to just jobs offered by the Air Force under "Agency Search".
