Why is it important to be informed and think about current news ,politics ,social issues, world news...
I was really interested in them ,especially when I was at early 20s , now I'm 27 , I'm still interested and follow these issues but , I see a lot of people who don't know anything about them but live happier ,they don't bother themselves about what is happening around them. life easier for them,
let me add I'm not American , maybe situation is different there , ... I don't know if I could clearly describe my question or not ,but please let me know your ideas.
thanks

"Operation Northwoods, or Northwoods, was a 1962 plan by the US Department of Defense to cause acts of terrorism and violence on US soil or against US interests, blamed on Cuba, in order to generate U.S. public support for military action against the Cuban government of Fidel Castro. As part of the U.S. government's Operation Mongoose anti-Castro initiative, the plan, which was not implemented, called for various false flag actions, including simulated or real state-sponsored acts of terrorism (such as hijacked planes) on U.S. and Cuban soil. The plan was proposed by senior U.S. Department of Defense leaders, including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lyman Louis Lemnitzer.

So for all you people who keep insisting that the US government would never consider attacking its own citizens, do you still think that is the case?

If they would consider it once, why wouldn't they consider it again?

Some girl 26 yr old, live in INDIA, have done her B.Sc maths, always good in studies, have faced 3 yr GAP in her studies after her graduation because of her MOTHER'S severe sickness for 3 yrs.
Now her father is FORCING her emotionally, to get married as her age of marriage has come.
He has DENIED COMPLETELY TO PAY HER FEES for further studies though HE IS ENOUGH RICH to do that.
He says now he will spend only for her marriage nothing other than that.
BUT she want to do 3yr MCA course before getting married because ....she know she will not be able to study after her marriage as she know her nature that.....she can't study in unfavourable & difficult situations &
SHE DON'T WANT TO RISK HER CARRIER BY GETTING MARRIED BEFORE COMPLETION OF STUDIES.
There is no other financial support for her other than her father.

MY QUESTION IS :::::----------IS THERE ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT TO HELP SUCH 26 YR OLD UNMARRIED GIRL IN LEGAL SYSTEM OF INDIA?

How do these two President's statements make you feel when seen in contrast with the other? How do you view each separately? What does it mean to you personally? What does it mean to you as a whole? Does one take away from the other and if so, how?

Please think deeply for a moment after reading these quotes and before giving your thoughts. Thanks!

Theodore Roosevelt, (1858-1919), 26th president, once said, "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

George Walker Bush, 43rd President, once said, "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."[

Ok from the Senate Intel Report:
Months before the invasion of Iraq, U.S. intelligence agencies predicted that it would be likely to spark violent sectarian divides and provide al-Qaeda with new opportunities in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a report released yesterday by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Analysts warned that war in Iraq also could provoke Iran to assert its regional influence and “probably would result in a surge of political Islam and increased funding for terrorist groups” in the Muslim world.

The intelligence assessments, made in January 2003 and widely circulated within the Bush administration before the war, said that establishing democracy in Iraq would be “a long, difficult and probably turbulent challenge.” The assessments noted that Iraqi political culture was “largely bereft of the social underpinnings” to support democratic development.

So the decider knew in advance that it would be FUBAR and still went ahead, man how dumb is that?

I recently asked a question about sueing my mom. I'm not really going to do that.

Anyway I live in the state of New York...so that can help more. Anyway my Dad passed away in 1998. When he died he left his life insurance money in my Aunts name because he didn't trust my Mom. Anyway he told her that the money was for his kids (me and my sister). Anyway my Dad passed away and $100,000 went to her.

Anyway she took all that money and spent it on herself and her family. It was supposed to goto us when me and my sister turned 18. So now we have nothing.

I was wondering if I were to call her and have her admit everything including having her adming that the money was for my sister and I. I could record the conversation and use it against her in court.

Would this ever work since it's legal to record a conversation in the state of NY? I'm just really struggling right now. I have a job and everything, but I just don't make enough money to buy a new car and a place to live.

We lost the Korean war. We lost the Vietnam War. We got beat in Somalia Oct 1993. Look what happened to the Marines in Lebanon in Oct 1983. ( 241 killed and then the USA cut and ran) And now we are losing in Iraq due to a war based on lies. ( Remember the lies about Vietnam?) Plus look at all the innocent civilians the USA troops have killed. This Veteran will soon tear up his two honorable discharges and will never admit to being a veteran. I'm ashamed of the United States.

(and plese don't give me that tired, worn out 'patriotic' -- "oh we're fighting the war on terror" "sh-t happens" "well Bush said we were going to lose more troops because of the "surge"..
Geez!)

Most Americans understand that with the electoral college in place, election results can be, and have been, different then the popular vote. Whether or not this is just, as has been debated, I believe a lot of potential voters are feeling disenfranchised by this fact and are neglecting to vote as they feel their vote won't matter (IE: A Democrat in Texas, or a Republican in New York, or a Green Party anywhere).

Compare our voter turnout (54%) to some of other countries. Italy and Austria, among others, are in the 90's, and even our neighbor to the north is over 20% higher than ours. What can we do to promote a higher voter turnout?

The Washington, DC, think-tank, The American Enterprise Institute, camouflages its purpose with its name. Its real name should be The Center for Middle East War.

AEI has the largest collection of warmongers in America. AEI "scholars" have agitated for war in the Middle East for years. A moronic president and 9/11 gave them their opportunity. Now that the US invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan have failed, the AEI warmongers are conspiring with Vice President Cheney to foment war with Iran.

Writing in The Washington Note, Steven C. Clemons reports that Cheney is working with the AEI warmongers to short-circuit the efforts of Bush’s secretaries of defense and state to find a diplomatic solution. Clemons reports that one former high-level national security official describes the Cheney-AEI conspiracy as possibly an act of "criminal insubordination" against President Bush.

Spanish is the second most spoken language in the USA. People from Latin America are immigrating here more then ever now. If we learn another language, it would help our relationship with other countries and it will give our children (the future of America) a better education to. There are so many benefits of learning another language, but the USA is still to afraid to accept this. Why?
