Hi ive taken an interest into aircraft ever since a child, and always had a strong patriotism towards my country. It's been in my interest for the last 3 years now to apply to join either the RAF or Fleet Air Arm (Naval Air Force). I spoke to some careers advisor's at my local AFCO and sent in my application. Only worry i am now having is. Well am i too tall to get into either of these either as a helicopter pilot (transport) or as a spotter (fighter pilot/local defense)? Im currently 6"1, however they told me i am a suitable candidate due to my intellect. All sciences and Maths at my A levels and ALL my 11 GCSE's at A*-C. Please advise?

I do know it is a tight program to get into and if i cant i am aiming to go into commercial piloting anyway.

This would contradict the Texas Pledge of Allegiance, wouldn't it? When Texas school children and teachers daily recite the Texas Pledge of Allegiance, we say, "Honor the Texas flag. I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible." But when the Republic of Texas was admitted to the Union, I heard, it reserved the option of dividing into several states if that is what the people wanted at some future time. Comments, please.

Ok, recently a co-worker of mine has been telling me all these stories about how much money she is making on ebay. The items vs. selling price she described just didn't make sense to me so I decided to check out what she had for sale on EBay. Turns out, she is selling a lot of stuff that she does not have, all mostly high cost electronics. All of the auctions say that she is not responsible for lost merchandise, but it will be "lost" because it will never be sent! I hate to be a snitch, but this woman uses and manipulates everyone she can. And once these items have ended, she will have made well over $1000. I hate to see people out that much money. What can or should I do? Can/should I report her to EBay? Should I stay out of this?

Normally I wouldn't use this forum for political causes, but I just read a story about single parents losing custody of their children while they are deployed with no protection from the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act. Why is it more important to protect a service member's car while they are away and cant fight for it than it is to protect a service members family?
Reading this article made me seriously reconsider whether or not I want to re enlist when the time comes for me to do it. Please read this article, and if you too are horrified by this concept, please follow the link within and write to your representatives about this tragedy.

There are so many people on here and elsewhere, who believe that freedom of speech gives you the freedom to say whatever you want without consequences.
Freedom of speech is the ability to say what you want, short of libal, slander and of course threats, without the fear of prosecution by the government.
So many people assume that it means that the public cannot "prosecute" an individual or group.
Is it ignorance or stupidity?

Senario: Mom and Dad speak zero English. Clearly they have not qualified for American citizenship via any legal process. They are shopping and using their oldest who is appxy. 10yr. old as the translator. The mom is pregnant and there are a total of 4 (stairsteps) children in tow. These parents continue to grow their family. They evidently do not fear that they are risking separation or jeopardizing the security of their family in doing so here in the US since they continue to expand in number. Legal citizens of this country do not feel comfortable nowadays, and with the economy the way that it is, having 3 or more children. What makes illegals comfortable having so many children?

Or so a wannabe conservative told me. Funny. I guess Bush did not need to admit our intelligence was flawed, and look behind the oval office curtains for WMD, it was in Iraq all along. I wonder how every major intelligence agency and media outlet in the world missed that?

I live in Washington state.
I want to get a will that will say: If anythig happens to me, my husband, my children's step dad, will get custody. Can I do that, and will it hold up? Should I put the reasons why in my will? Bio Father is a drug addict, cant hold a job, in and out of jail, etc...
Will it hold up in court? Bio father "might" try to get them, but can NOT take care of them. I don't want him to ruin them. I would assume that he would give them to my mom..if I didn't make it legal for my husband.
BTW- it is also what my children want.
Thank you

It must be the developed instincts of retired military personnel that bring them to the conclusion that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and the rest of the neo-cons inside the White House are modern day WAR CRIMINALS !

Usually, retired veterans aren't so outspoken about a president in time of war, but this time around, they aren't the least bit shy of calling it like it is !!!!

We are the ones guilty of war crimes this time around!

Shame to everyone who decided to vote for these war mongers!

The curse of the stolen election of 2000 continues!

Turn around. . . Every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never comin 'round
Turn around. . . Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listenin to the sound of my tears
Turn around. . . Every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all years have gone by
Turn around. . . every now and then I get a little bit terrified and then I see the look in your eyes

Turn around. .. Bright eyes. . . Every now and then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight.. . . And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight. . . we'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right. . . Cause we'll never be wrong to-gether
We can take it to the end of the line
Your Love is like a shadow on me. . forever
I don't know what to do. . and I'm always in the dark !
We're livin in a powder keg and giving off sparks

I really need you tonight

Forever's gonna start to-night. . . Forever's gonna start tonight

Yeah baby , Do you Think She'll let her Love Flow ?

While I do not agree with Bush on everthing and don't understand why we are still in Iraq I do have a question. I read so many statements here about how bad Bush is and everyone has a right to their oppion. The question is... Did you vote in the last election? And yes I do vote in all elections. If not what gives you the right to complain about Bush or even Clinton? You gave up the right to complain when you didn't vote. So why didn't you vote and now want to complain about our president?

just curious, though i am bracing myself. i was recently told that those who "don't believe in columbus" (whatever that means) are supporters of "Terrorism." which seems preposterous to me so i am curious to see what responses to this question will yield.

in may 2008 the "Real ID " card program rolls out, ....very expensive, hardly a blip on the radar as far as congress is concerned.. but a central data base, along with admitted existing spying programs, wire taps, Echelon, sneak and peak.. all sanctioned and outline clearly in the patriot acts 1&2 .. combine to make us more like the Soviet Union than the united states..

when they begin the random checkpoints for these cards how will you react?

I feel betrayed by the party. I voted for them (my first time voting) in 2000 because I thought Repubs supported less federal gov't and less gov't interferance in our lives. Instead with things like the Patriot Act and huge inreases in gov't spending I am disillusioned with the party.
Aside from religion, are there any ways that they are still conservative?

Watch the news from different parts of the world in order to see ourselves accurately.

George W. Bush is a former drunk who gave up booze, but took up an addiction to political power that has transformed him into a WAR CRIMINAL !!!!

George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld are engineers of FEAR and CHAOS.

The presidential election of 2000 was stolen and we are now suffering from a curse upon our country as a result.

Nothing good ever comes from a stolen election!

Did you hear the bushlinger's latest excuse for bush's failed wars? "It's the Democrats' fault! Waaah!" Bush had everything he requested for 6 years given to him by a rubber-stamp GOP congress! Now they're blaming us for not stopping them from shooting themselves in the foot! Have these people no shame?

My honest feeling is that both parties serve the same masters and we the people loose either way, but I am amazed at the people in this group that inhale the spoon fed propaganda that dominates Right wing television, radio and newspapers ( which is just about every single network and group as they are all owned by the same companies)
