The way that we have so completely destroyed the economy of Iraq is nothing short of criminal!

How could Karl Rove have been so successful in manipulating so many good people to vote for such a terrible president?!!

How did we get so completely fooled in this day and age?

What a masterful devil Karl Rove must be to trick the American electorate into participating in the Bush/Cheney war crimes!!!

Madison as a President vetoed the Bonus Bill in 1817 declaring it unconstitutional.
I think he was absolutely right, Politicians do it for votes and for
financial contributions to run campaigns.
In short it is a promise to return favors for political support.
It's called Patronage, and to me it is a form of bribery.
How did this practice become so widespread in a democracy.
In many countries this would mean ' end of political career ' if
not a jail sentence .
Yet for almost 200 years it is a readily accepted old and venerable political tool in the USA.
Everybody seems to be doing it, have the voters never protested, or do they just accept it as inevitable ?.

I know he was president then, but I don't think he was responsible. What exactly was the "cover up"? What are the secret tapes that were discovered?

I think he probably did the right thing when he resigned because the country was divided after the scandal.

I don't even have a clue exactly what happened because I was just a baby when it all was going on.

As are glorious leader leads usinto another war year we have to sit back and wonder what the hell was he thinking? His famous quote we were trying to bring deomocracy to the middleeast. Democracy this part of the world has never had it never will and doesnt want it. Now as far as american democracy goes well if your rich then hey u have the american dreamThe american gov't is ran by big business interest. Whos bottom line is the buck. Not peoples welfare. Well just look at the aftermath of katrina.
The people in iraq dont want the american way of life who would. The wars already lost. They dont have enought troops deployed, What do they have now 150000 maybe. The insurgents grow day by day in number i mean these fanatics will blow themselves to hell for there crazy cause. Kind of hard to fight that kind of determination. If when the usa first went in they had taken proper control of the infrastructure the insurgency would have probably petered out.

I was shocked, Shocked to hear how much international aid that the Bush administration TURNED DOWN FLAT, like doctors from Pakistan, electrical generators and oil, shelter aid, medical supplies etc. after Katrina.
My question is how do you feel? The US has never accepted aid, wanting to appear proud and strong, but then, they did not adequately help their own. Was this move justified for the sake of national pride, or should they have swallowed their pride? Is the gov't representing the will of the people, there?

And now, aid didn't go to Kansas due to lack of proper hoop-jumping in the request? Aargh!

P.S - I'm Canadian; outside looking in.

I heard Michael Savage yesterday say.(I recorded it)

"The conservative movement is dead, I am a Nationalist, ...I am a Nationalist" "Multi Culturalism has failed, the united states comes from the best of Anglo descent, not the middle east, not Africa.. but Europe's white and best...Individualism in the extreme is narcissism, You should be loyal to the "state" above all else", "The enemy abroad is Islamofascism, the enemy at home is the ACLU, The Labor Unions, and all the Anti American terrorist sympathizers, ....I am a Nationalist"..

Now for anyone that hasn't read their 20th century history, that is the exact same verbiage that Hitler, Stalin and Mao's propagandists used... they too feigned various political ideologies before drawing "that" line in the sand.. Michael Savage is broadcast on over 370 stations around this country

The point is both of these men were very bad men who did many things that were wrong-------and in both cases not enough evidence was available to get them for the crimes we really wanted to get them for-----and in both cases government prosecutors had to settle for lesser offenses due to red tape....Who else can see the correlation here and scratch their heads in awe how Clinton can continue on like this without being behind bars?

In combat, an army doesn't - can't - take the time to figure out which soldiers on the OTHER side fired, or whether they intended to kill or simply wound, or whether they were fighting willingly or were conscripted. In combat, our soldiers shoot their soldiers.

A crime, on the other hand, involves an individualized determination of state of mind, and the elements of the crime, and whether a crime in fact occurred or was going to occur (attempt or conspiracy to commit).

So what if a person intends to commit an act of war? What if a person, intending to bring down the US government through violent means a la military action, and in support of a nation or organization that also seeks to bring down the US government through violent means, plots to kill US citizens?

It is a crime, no question. But should it be treated as an act of war?
Also, if the person does NOT comply with the Geneva Convention treaties (i.e., the person does NOT wear a uniform), why should US?

OK, let me start this off by saying this is NOT a debate on whether or not humans cause global warming, because it doesn’t matter. The problem is, whether they are or not, the globe is warmer, and we have to deal with it.

I am just wondering why people like Al Gore don’t bring this up more often. Even if humans ARE responsible for global warming, and even if we COMPLETELY stop CO2 emissions, the globe will still get warmer. Why? Think about it:

If you hold a flame under a thermometer, the temperature will rise dramatically, right? But if you simply remove the flame, the temperature will not start to decrease for a LONG time, and when it does, it will be very slowly.

SO, no matter the reason, our globe is getting warmer. So instead of trying to “stop” global warming, which is obviously impossible, why don’t we try to adapt to what will be a warmer globe?

Is it just me, or is this a very important topic that is simply getting ignored because it isn't as "popular" as environmentalism?

Retired General John Batiste, former commander in Iraq, has recently come forward and harshly criticized President Bush’s policies in Iraq. His assertion is that a war cannot be won primarily with military might. He charges that Bush’s policy in Iraq has failed because our military effort does not work in concert with economic and diplomatic strategies. Who knows more about war strategies, a four-star general with an impeccable military record, or a president who’s never seen combat?

When it comes to the pro-choice-pro-life debate, there are several valid arguments on both sides. Whether you support pro-choice or pro-life isn’t the issue I wish to address; it’s more of a logical analysis of laws that contradict each other. Above and beyond every argument that supports pro-choice, the driving force behind Roe vs. Wade was the premise that a woman has the right to make her own decisions when it comes to her body; it was primarily a rights issue. So, given this assertion, why can a woman legally abort her unborn child, but if she has sex with someone for money, she gets arrested? Isn’t it her body? Isn’t she entitled to do whatever she chooses to do with it? Is consensual sex between a man and woman a greater moral offense than having an abortion? If it’s legal for a woman to abort her child, how can our lawmakers justify arresting her if she has sex for money? It’s her body, isn’t it?

Someone recently asked a question about posting the 10 commandments in schools, in court, or in government buildings. It got me to thinking.

The 10 commandments is a historical document and it is the foundation of all of the laws in the United States. For exmple,

Thou shall not kill translates into you should not commit murder.

Thou shall not covet your neighbors goods translates into you should not steal.

So basically these principles are the foundation of every modern society.

Everyday we are asked to accept homosexuals. If you don't you are called homophobic.

Why can't a historical document, which is the foundation of our legal system, be posted in these buildings? Are you Godaphobic?

My husband was charged for a small amount of weed that was found in our house - I think it was either an old room mates or maybe it was ours from years ago. (cops searched our home after following him into the driveway and ticketing him for no tag light!!) Anyway, he produced drug screens from his job to show he is clean and the city attorney told out attorney he would drop the charges b/c of the drug screen being good - so we paid the attorney 500.00 to go to city court - that day all he did was ask the judge to move the case to county court (otherwise he said he could not get it dropped in City court - rules different??) SO now he wants 1000.00 on top of the 500.00 we already gave him just to go to county court for the same charge. Does this sound right ? I feel like he is sucking us dry! And I also want to know if the prosecuting attorney has already agreed to drop the charges - do we even need to have an attorney at the county date? Any advice ? email me if you need more details
