...'coz if he had known diplomacy...we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now...our allies and nations all over the world won't have been pissed of at us....if he had known diplomacy...he won't have winked at the Queen....and most important he would have learned to keep his mouth shut and not to speak without thinking.

Bush initially tried to wine-and-dine Democrats in congress. He let Ted Kennedy write an Education Bill. He supported a Tom Daschle Farm Bill. etc.... Hard core fiscal conservatives were very angry with Bush for spending this money when the country is bleeding money in deficit spending. And what did Bush get for his gestures towards the Democrats? Answer: NOTHING...ZERO...NADA..... Bush is a fool if he thinks the Dems will play nice with him.
With regard to Iraq, the president is the leader of foreign policy. if the democrats want to control foreign policy then then need to persuade voters to put them in the White House. Besides the voters are getting alarmed at the Dems playing politics with money for the soldiers. The Dems are hurting the troops by with holding money for armor and special anti-IED vehicles. Bush has no need to compromise and if the Dems do not, then they will be seen as not supporting the troops and lose the next elections... The Dems are playing with fire and they will pay a price unless they get smart...

Ok someone told you they can fix your car, temporarily maybe. But to do that you have to agree to pay off the mortgage on the farm, buy the animals clean up the yard and all that has nothing to do with your car.
That is a bill presented by the House to the President. Fight Congress. Hell yes. They are so busy rallying for campaigns, personal gains and agenda they can't see the forest thru the trees. Conflict is what our brave soldiers see every day. Each day Congress wastes another life is lost. It is on their shoulders now not Bush.

Because despite the grandstanding Congress will grant the President the funding. He knows it, and they know it, they just have to waste time and go through the motions and grandstand about their moral superiority all the while taking their shots (an election is approaching and the dems would like to be back in the White House), but in the end they will spend the money. To me, that is Bush using his diplomacy.

like most rich people these guys have lived a privileged life and are used to getting whatever they want without ever having to learn the art of compromise. Bill Clinton (while no hero of mine by any means) at least was able to work effectively in his 2nd term when the repubs took over congress because he was actually willing to compromise...something GW will never learn. According to Mrs. Bush (his wife), he had to be talked into having a white-tie formal when Queen Elizabeth visited. What a baby.

He tried that in the early days of his administration. Remember "The New Tone?" And the Democrats slapped him in the face every time he turned around. In order to reach across the table, there has to be someone on the other side reaching back.

You have to first understand WHO Bush is. His main concern is beating on his chest and making Daddy Bush proud! Bush (little Bush)is taking up where his poppa left off. No concern for the American people and none for the Iraqis either really. He just wants to prove that he is the head cheese. Guess he feels that he has certain entitlements because of his family's "skull & Bones" affiliation. Bush supporters are even turning against him! They see what the rest of us saw from the beginning! Is it me, or is he the only President in history that while still in office has had so many buffonish series/cartoons(That's my Bush, Little Bush) about him? Not talking about the satires. He is the most unarticlate, buffonish, non-practical President in our history.

All Presidents do this. It's just part of the checks and balances process. Clinton shut the government down a couple of times fighting Congress. Singling Bush out is specious at best.

It is Congresses responsibility to send him a bill to fund the troops that does not include pork barrel spending or stipulations that is not the place of Congress to dictate. When they do their job, he will sign the bill. If they want to end the war so badly, then they have the power to defund it, but they don't have the conviction or guts to do something so foolish. But then again, with Pulosi and Reid running the show, foolish is not out of the question. They should do THEIR job and fund our troops that are in harms way and stop playing politics with our troops lives. They are disgraceful!

France and Germany have both elected pro-US, pro Bush heads of state, and the pro-US, pro Bush Conservatives are about to take control of the PM in the UK once Blair steps down. Tell me that story about Bush causing conflict and not having diplomacy skills again, I need a good laugh...
