In January of 2007 the Court of Appeals ruled that the lawsuit should be allowed to go forward.

The bill has not yet been passed but if it continues to go forward then witnesses taking an oath would not be required to take the oath using a Bible.

The new bill would allow the person taking the oath to place a hand "upon the Bible or any text sacred to the party's religious faith." However, the court would not be required to provide such texts, but it could accept donations. The bill goes on to say that if it is not appropriate to the person's faith then the person taking the oath is not required to say "so help me God."

If they did, then wouldn't massing 200,000 troops in Kuwait (a vital oil conduit for the West and a sworn enemy of Saddam ) while steadily beating the war drums for two months, have to go down in history as the most reckless and assinine military stategy ever?

PHOENIX - One day after the Arizona House approved a bill targeting employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants, the legislative chamber announced Friday that it had fired an employee after it was determined that he was an illegal immigrant.
A part-time housekeeper was fired Thursday evening after he told a supervisor that he was an illegal immigrant, the House said in a statement released late Friday.
The employee had been asked to provide documentation when a verification check found that his name did not match Social Security records.

Employment of illegal immigrants is a hot-button political issue in Arizona because such hirings are blamed for encouraging people to sneak across the border. The Pew Hispanic Center has estimated that illegal immigrants account for one in 10 workers in Arizona.

The fired employee was identified by House spokesman Barrett Marson as Gilberto Melendez, 17, of Phoenix. Marson said he did not have contact information for Melendez.

The man was hired in December and Marson said House officials had no explanation why the mismatch of Social Security information was not detected earlier.

He said the checks are supposedly to be conducted monthly by the Department of Administration and that the department reported the mismatch to the House on March 8. An Administration Department spokesman did not immediately return calls for comment late Friday.

Marson said House officials House reported the matter to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office on Friday.

A sheriff's spokesman, Lt. Paul Chagolla, said authorities were searching for Melendez on Friday evening "but he is not in our custody at this point."

On Thursday, the House approved, 46-13, a bill that would prohibit employers from knowingly hiring illegal immigrants and require businesses to sign affidavits saying they aren't breaking such a rule.

The proposal also would require state and local governments to use a federal database to verify whether their new employees are eligible to work in the United States.

The Social Security verification check that resulted in the firing was conducted under an executive order issued in October 2005 by Gov. Janet Napolitano for state employees. Napolitano's order also required state contractors to guarantee their employees aren't illegal immigrants and to let state agencies inspect employment eligibility records for those workers to check compliance.

"The Social Security verification program works and this is proof," House Speaker Jim Weiers, R-Phoenix, said in the statement announcing the firing of the House employee.

The House did not knowingly hire the illegal immigrant "and he no longer works for the House," Weiers said. "Most importantly, to those who say verification creates a burden, this unfortunate incident shows that the verification program works."

Ever notice that? You get the same tired old answers from the "tolerant" crowd - - oh, it's just a few radical extremists, it's not mainstream Islam.... Right, well what IS mainstream Islam - - is it Muhammad's life? Is it the Koran? The Hadiths?

Well in case you didn't know, Muhammad killed tens of thousands of people - - his successors wiped out entire populations from the map. You know why there are almost no Buddhists left in India, where Buddhism was founded? Because the Muslims KILLED THEM ALL.

The Koran says to kill the unbelievers. Not once, repeatedly. Not God will do it in the end days, but YOU do it, and God likes you more if you do it than if you sit at home and just pray five times a day. It says when, where, why and how to do it.

Does that mean peaceful, moderate Islam is impossible?

NO.

It DOES mean that some reconciliation must be made between it and origins that are extremely violent.

Often the effects of psychiatric drugs are determined by comparisons with a placebo group. You may for example have a result that there were 40% responders to placebo and 50% responders to the drug.
You do seem to have a moral and ethical dilema here. For if you informed each user of a drug about the placebo effect , the percent responders may decrease.
Even though the placebo effect is so large compared to the combined effect you would never hear a doctor talk about this. On the other hand, you would hear a doctor talk about the active substance in the drug and neurotransmitters.
The person is not correctly informed about the treatment he or she is recieving. And on the other hand, this information itself may decrease the benefit to the patient.

What is your opinion?
Is the health of the patient more important than informed information?

Say that during the baby boomer generation we had more children enrolled in school then we do now. (Fact)
And we had less teachers (Fact), less taxpayers (Fact), and less taxes towards schools (Fact), and a higher pupil to teacher ratio (Fact).
The children coming out of the schooling system in America were well prepared and rated high in the international community (Fact).
Then why are we having all these problems both financially and education wise in our educational system, if all of the things said before are true?

Hi. about 3 years ago, i got a speeding ticket. I showed up to court and the officer that gave me the ticket was there. I decided to take traffic school and paid for my ticket but that cop dismissed everyones case. Later on, i received a check in the mail for the amount i had paid for my ticket. Does this mean that my ticket (case) was dismissed and out of my driving record?

I am currently serving in Baghdad.... I had no complaints about the money we make here... it is tax-free, I get hazardous duty pay, I still get my special allowances. My monthly take home comes out to around $3,500 a month, which is not bad....

I just had a discussion with an Austrailian co-worker and they are getting a ridiculous amount more! He is bringing home about $12,000 a month!

Why are the Aussies getting paid so much more? One of the biggest differences is that while we get $225 a month for our hazardous duty, etc, Aussies are making $150 A DAY!! They are evidently talking about raising it to $200 a day!

I wish I'd never found out. I think what I'm getting is pretty fair and I am not one to complain- I just don't understand why there is such a giant difference (and no, he doesn't do anything extraordinarily special; it is pretty standard for all Aussies serving in Iraq). Any ideas?

See what your troops are getting? Peanuts, compared to other countries' militaries.
