Why is the US on such a moral high horse when being so hypocritical?

Examples: Having a holocaust memorial for the bad **** that OTHER people have been doing, but none for what we have done (against all kinds of peoples)

I guess it is less painful to remember evil things that others have done then to remember the evil things that you have done.
