Last week I watched a documentary on the US Marine Corp on PBS. Very interesting show, not to mention humbling ( I woudn't last 24 hours in boot camp!). It got me wondering: when did the marine corp (as well as the army and other branches of the military) start using the training methods (ie boot camp) that are used today? Did they have boot camp during the Civil War? World War 1? Any military historians or vets out there that know, your answers will be much appreciated.

For the past two years I have not only provided payments for the vehicle I have paid for insurance and maintenance... I was fired from my job in Decemeber and have not paid for the car in the past couple of months. She is demanding 1000 dollars by the end of this month and if i do not pay her she is threatning to take my car away and sell it. All the documents are under her name and I do not have any receipts proving that I have paid her monthly.. I do however have witnesses and because all my weekly income went towards the car and it is evident for the fact I have no money saved... What are my rights????

Should The U.S. give the Illegals amnesty if they serve in the army, are not part of a gang, are not doing drugs, and are hard workers? Oh yeah, and are not using somebody else's social?

i hope not. there are many people crying out for socialism. i believe in personal responsibility to include personal FINANCIAL responsibility. too many unchecked pregnancies caused by irrresponsible sexual habits as well as too many living beyond their means. i wonder why these folks whine and blame their problems on hard working, successful people. class envy, if you will. am i wrong?

I posted bail for my sister about a month and half ago and since, her charges have been dropped. Can anybody tell me if I am entitled to a refund or what happens to the money. Does the bails bondsman keep it or is he suppose to return it? I live in TX and I don't know if it is the same everywhere.

I hate to lump people into strict categories, but I often hear many (not all) on the far right claiming that they are the only true patriots, and that liberalisim is almost some kind of mental illness.

But if you look at Franklin, Jefferson, Washington, Adams, etc, they all seemed pretty liberal/progressive to me. They radically changed the status quo. They bucked the old system in favor of one with much greater freedoms for each individual. They championed the idea of human equality. The leaders weren't even Christians, but rather Deists and Unitarians.

If they HAD to be categorized, I would have a hard time describing them as conservative rather than liberal.

What do you think?

Situation: A married couple rented one of thier rental properties to a young lady. The young lady and the husband worked for the same employer. Over time the young lady and the man started getting attracted to each other. There was flirting at work but nothing never came out of it. The young lady decided that the flirting was enough so she wrote the man a letter, stating that the flirting was wrong and that she was starting to get sexually attracted to him so they needed to stop the flirting. The man took the letter home and the wife found the letter, also a letter that he was writing back to her. Now the wife is trying to evict the young lady. The wife says she will file a breach of contract and show the letters in court and that the young lady would have to pay her money. However the property is not registered with the city to qualify as a rental property. Does anyone have any advice on what could be done for the young lady and how the breach of contract would affect her?

he is a proven hypocrite. he expects everyone to sacrifice for some stupid people in africa while he himself has 5 thousand dollar lunches and houses all over the world.

plus, he advocated for ireland to increase its donations to african causes, and when ireland then started taxing music productions, he moved his production company out of ireland to rotterdam to avoid paying taxes, all in the mean time wanting every other irish person to pay for his causes.

so why do even poeple acknowledge his existence?

My boss gave me a used Volvo because I was a good worker for a long time. I had no license at the time so I couldn't register it in my name. The car broke down badly and cost $500 to fix so my step mother paid it. My dad then said if I let my sister use it then she will pay for it. Then behind my back they both get the car registered in her name. I was furious but they said I wasn't driving it since I had no license. I have kept quiet for months but now that I'm fixing to get my license back I want the car. My sister says that it is hers and I can't have it. Is there a chance I can get it back with a lawyer or some other way? I can't afford a car myself at the moment.

it seems a lot of complaints and excuses coming out of everyones mouth about different groups in america and their good points and bad points.

i always wondered how many of these vocal activists actually live or have ever lived among the groups they are advocating for or against?

I'm very frustrated about losing 12 points today when a very liberal woman reported me for abuse when I disagreed with her claim. She them proceeded to add details several times cussing out other members. Do liberals really care about free speech, I'd really like to know? ...because this one tried to censor me when I disagreed with her...

I love flying so I decided to go in as a Navy pilot. My recruiter told that it is fun and that it is very competitive. So this question came upon me. I am just curious and I want to know all about being a Navy pilot. I want you to tell me everything that comes to mind. Go all out, tell me about the schooling, what it takes to be a pilot, tell me about the paygrade and when will I be able to fly. Tell me is it fun can I choose to go to a ROTC program in college. So just tell me everything that you can possibly think of when becoming a Navy pilot. PLEASE HOLD NOTHING BACK!!! All information is greatly appreciated. HOWEVER, this is a competition for ten points so the most amount of information gets the points.
