NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It is made up of many European countries and to no surprise the U.S. is the dominant force. It is basically a military alliance that when a country joins it promises mutual defense to any NATO satellite(as in state) if attack by an outside party. NATO plays a smaller role today unlike in the days of the cold war. If Warsaw Pact forces invaded west Germany NATO would be there waiting for them.

NATO = North American Treaty Organization. An organization of about 26 European and North American nations bound by treaties. Basically, this is an organization of nations who will come to the aid and defense of member countries and take joint action against aggressors. Organized about 1949 as response to the Red scare after W.W. II. (the cold war).

NATO is presently active in the Balkans and Afghanistan.

North Atlantic treaty organization. Europe and US banded together to counter the threat of the Soviet Union. An attack against one would be considered an attack against all.

one significantitem was the NATO round., a 7/62 MM cartridge which would fit all NATO weapons. One single type of rifle ammo rather than many.

I think it stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. I'm guessing it would be an alliance of all the countries that signed that treaty. Sorry I don't have more info. Check it out on the Internet.
