There is no doubt that it has to be the very last option.

The only scenarios that I could see for using a nuclear weapons would be one where they would be used against a country that is in the process of launching a direct large scale attack on the American populous, and the missiles would stop the attack.

The only other scenario, would be one similar to our use of them in Japan. They were used to end a very long ground war, against an enemy that would have fought us house to house, all the way though the mainland. I honestly believe that even as horrific as those bombs were, had we used conventional warfare, the death toll would have been much higher. I see this possibility as being very low, as we now have much more effective conventional weapons, and have such a volume of firepower that if we were to completely "unload" on a country, they would quickly realize that fighting would be a lost cause.

The thing that is not understood by many is that if we were to disregard civilian casualty's, we could have complete control of Iraq in a very short time. I am not suggesting or condoning that type of strategy, but in another much worse situation, it would be preferable to a nuclear attack.

If any little third world dictator got hold of a nuke, I would say put a mushroom cloud over him at once.

Diplomacy don't do a thing but give the mad dictators time to get ready.

Nuke em all and let God sort em out

for the time now, we are never going to war with China, unless it is to get free from our money debt with them.
i think the nuclear bomb will never goin to be used again, but if you want an answer to that, is if they feel threatened someone is going to throw one here, but that would be devastating, because tha would be the beginning of a nuclear war

With this administration I would think they may use one as a pre-emptive strike. I would hope not, but who knows. And I am no liberal. These people scare me. I believe it is the last option also. Japan was the last option. Now, I just wish we would just put a worldwide ban on this planet killing device.

An imminent threat of an actual militaryl attack on our soil, where no other conventional option was available. It's all just conjecture, but things would have to be absolutely desparate before I would say it was OK.

The first and last time we used it was to save lives in a never- ending war. You've heard of Nagasaki, haven't you?

You answered your own question. What will the last option be? Hopefully we won't get to find out, because it will be very dire. I don't think we can even begin to say the same about N.Korea or Iran.
