He's a politician, where perception is everything. He got caught, or nearly so, and went for the ditch instead of dealing with it head on. I'm a Conservative leaning thinker, but realize that pretty much any politician that allowed that situation to happen would have done the same thing. The trick is, don't let that situation happen so you are not faced with making the decision about being truthful if caught.

I've never met or known of one man who willingly gave themselves up for cheating on their wife. They turn into actors with alibis worthy of an Oscar all a sudden and follow the adage of That's My Story and I'm Sticking to It until someone produces hard evidence and backs them into a corner. Bill Clinton's a man, that's all that needs to be said about that. He should have known when to stop though, you just don't lie under oath.

He might have done so to protect the Presidency, not just himself.

President Nixon might have done the same thing by resigning rather than allow the a President to be impeached.

I don't know, but I've seen, too often, the nonsense attitudes of people who attack our Presidents, and don't realize the damage they do to our country in the process.

Oh, I do believe in disagreement, dissent, and protest. Those are GREAT things to value, but too often it turns into sedition by name-calling, spreading unfounded rumors, or treating someone as guilty until proven innocent, all very UN-American values.

Former President Clinton will always have my respect.

I have no respect for his actions with Monica.

Bill must have known his lie was going to come back on him. Imagine how powerless he felt being the most powerful man in the world. Why did he lie---I do not know, he knew he was dead in the water--I guess arrogance.

Its simple... every man will tell you the same thing. You always lie about the fat chicks... theyre like skooters, fun to ride but you wouldnt let your friends catch you on top of one.

'Cause she is fat and ugly and pathetic.

How desperate do you have to be? How dark do the lights have to be? How long a cigar is long enough? How drunk is drunk enough to jump on that hog? A sane man will never know.

That is unchartered waters. Shows he hit rock bottom and
she hit the lotto.

why do 90 percent of men that are in afffairs, lie about them? to not get caught maybe?

is this really that complicated?

I really think that he thought they wouldn't persue it... since it's NEVER been persued the hundreds of times other presidents and congressmen have done it?

Most men lie about their affairs initially. A better question would be...why was his private sex life the concern of the nation?
