Don't you wish you had so many loans like I do and a "lousy career"?

The policies of the Bush Administration has been to reduce (eventually eliminate) the tax burden on UNEARNED Income (dividends, capital gains, inheritances). This transfers the tax burden to those who work for a living.

Is this fair? If anything should be tax-exempt, shouldn't it be what people WORK for?

I live off an Investment Portfolio. Bush has reduced my taxes, but I think it isn't fair. And when my parents die, I will become a millionaire. The GOP would let me get it all tax free. But it's the working stiffs who would be stuck with paying to keep America going.

This is an elitist tax policy. Why do Rightists support it, and talk a lot of pseudo-populist nonsense?

He is using bt recording to demand more money from me for jobs he has so-called done on my behaf. His exact quote is as follows;
"I read my mail every day, and word for word. Also i record and save telephone conversations so that i can refresh on the information i am told. These conversations i hold with yourself on the telephone are then stored on my phone, so that i can retain the information.
If you are implying that i am lying to you about what you say to me then feel free to come and listen to all the conversations. Either that or i can send them to you"

in st-paul/minniapoli cab drivers of islamic faith are pushing to change laws regarding alcohol in cabs, particularly from the airport. they refuse to pick them up if they have alcohol on their person.authorities say go to the back of the line and wait for someone else. the drivers now are starting a discrimination campaign and i am sure the aclu will be involved soon. my question is, is this the begining of something much bigger or an isolated incident? why do we as americans have to accomidate everybody and their mother? are we slowly diluting our sovernty?

I don't know if any of you watch the show To Catch A Predator on Dateline, but if you do I have a question. Every single guy they catch always pleads innocent. Why? They were caught on numerous cameras red handed as well as chat logs. I don't understand why or how they can plead innocent.

In the company of 6 non-American colleagues dining last night the conversation turned to politics. Whilst to a man and woman they were in awe of the USA and our achievements, they were very very critical of the President. I wasn't sure what to think or do... except quietly agree.

I just read a brief bio about his wife Correta Scott King and I am ashamed of my ignorance because I never knew she was such a stanch supporter of LGBT rights and marraige equality. She states that Martin Luther King Jr. supported gay rights and the organizer of the March on Washington Bayard Rustin was gay. So the next time you hear someone say that no one should compare the civil rights movement to the LGBT rights movement...

"Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood", Correta Scott King stated. "This sets the stage for further repression and violence that spread all too easily to victimize the next minority group."

"Correta Scott King said her husband supported the quest for equality by gays and reminded her critics that the 1963 March on Washington was organized by Bayard Rust"

Does a universal moral code exist? They deny this code in so many other ways, they tell me it's not my business what they do ... so then, why is it their business what my children do? Is there a small part of them that inherently knows this code exists? Is it their conscience?

I asked yesterday, if anyone else felt that our government is betraying us, and got 18 responses. Everyone agreed that this government is selling us out. We can't continue this idea that freedom means not having the government tell us what to do. We have to regain the understanding that freedom is when WE TELL THE GOVERNMENT WHAT TO DO! I propose that everyone forget this lib/con garbage and vote for the challenger, in the next elections, NO MATTER WHAT. If we do this, for the next few election cycles, we might be able to throw the entrenched powers out and retake our government. THEY WORK FOR US! WE ARE NOT THEIR SUBJECTS! THEY ARE OUR CIVIL SERVANTS!

i've recenlty heard this argument. what do you think?

imperialism is a policy of exerting effective and continuing control or authority over foreign entities as a means of acquisition and/or maintenance of empires. this is either through direct territorial conquest or settlement, or through indirect methods of influencing or controlling the politics and/or economy. the term is used to describe the policy of a nation's dominance over distant lands, regardless of whether the subjugated nation considers itself part of the empire.

thoughts? (looking for intelligent discussion, please don't hide behind name calling as a means of getting your point across)
